erm if this thread is correct then isn't your Sig a misnomer?

Perhaps you need help navigating kara's Faq:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/karajorma/FAQ/modding.html

If you can't figure it out from his steps, there are about nine other tutorials hes linked that you can exhaust as well

hm....no table files in freespace2\data\. i wonder how it still runs?

edit: i made a leap of faith and made a folder called "ships". now i see them in fred, but not in game in the missions made using them. still no table files too.

if you're modding from scratch (if I remember correctly) you need to extract them yourself from teh main VP files with one of teh vp programs and put them in the folder (extract to dir option)...

THEN one you have the tables in there you can open then with notepad/wordpad...

Caution unless you know what you are doing you can screw up teh game fatally so back up your files FIRST. then copy a generic fighter entry and rename it whatever and the entry for teh .pof file name,

CHOOSE Save, DO NOT choose SAVE AS, or you will mess up the .tbl format (I never tried adding .tbl, that might work, heh) and the game will not recognise it as a valid .tbl file as you can accidently turn it into normal .txt file.

that's it, run FRED and the editor should find your ship. Make a mission add it save, run it BOOM you;re in there...

okay. now the freespace 3 (yeah, that right) demo can progress some more.
