We need your help!

So I have come up with a fairly comprehensive list of things that need to be done here. These are just ideas by me and are entirely flexible so if you volunteer for a task don’t feel bound to its specifications.

To start off, everyone interested should go to the new homepage game-warden.com; the portal home not the forum. Look to your left for a section called Main Menu. This is where the site content links will be placed. Go ahead and go to a few modules via the list to get the idea of the interface. Shiv and have already started on the downloads module, so that would be a good one to look at. This interface will probably change to be more user friendly in the future (i dont know how yet) but for now it will be like this.

Now that you have gotten a good idea of the new interface here is the “to do” list. Please post in this thread stating what you want to volunteer for and I will assign it to you so no one else duplicates work. When I mention creating categories that is something I will have to do through the portalCP. So once you have laid out your ideas please PM telling me which categories you need made with their descriptions.
If you have any complaints about the interfaces or little tweaks you think would help please post them here because that is one of my jobs.

Content needs to be added to the FAQ section

  • Update the current questions and answers (the current ones were written 3 years ago)
  • Create any new relevant questions
  • Feel free to request new categories

Links section needs to updated and expanded PARTIALLY DONE (or does it need any more adjustments?)

  • We need all relevant links with descriptions posted
  • Old links need updating
  • We need new categories
  • For this job you will not be able to directly edit the questions and answers. Whoever gets this job please post them here in the thread or PM me with them when your done.

Reviews section needs content

  • Need new categories for things that we can review
  • Campaigns and missions are there right now, do we need anything else?
  • Any ideas will help, possibly include interviews somewhere here in the future?

Content section/Encyclopedia section

  • I don’t know what exactly we need done here or what we could possibly put here. For now we at least need some site credits for people that have helped out with things. Beyond that is up to whoever picks this.
  • I will probably break this into multiple jobs eventually

Downloads section PARTIALLY DONE

  • Need new downloads and content
  • Update the old downloads, remove irrelevant and copyright infringing downloads and replace with links. Some of the software that was free when it was posted 3 years ago is no longer

Any other sections I plan on handling, but if you are interested let me know.

For creating content you do it a lot like creating threads in the forum. Please don’t hesitate to post any questions you have about the process here. ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED!!!

Once this is done I am going to go to phase 3 (above is phase 2) to rejuvenate this place. There will be more details that later ;) . I anticipate it being quite effective.

so......... i'd like to bump this for a bit

surely someone would like to help. downloads would be a great place to start IMO.

Just go post them as if they were threads. if you need a new category let me know. Even one post will help us out. I plan on doing a bunch this weekend, but for now I am still working out server side stuff.

Is it possible to have a specific category for campaigns the FSCRP has worked on? I'm planning to add more stuff of that kind.
 
Please forgive the double post, but I noticed that posts cannot be edited after a while. Is this intentional? I know this setting may have its advantages, but it makes updating the first post of a thread impossible.
 
yea its so nobody can go back way in the past and change/erase their existence. Its also for security reasons to protect what people have said if an account has been hijacked
 
Excellent, I hate it when people go back and edit their posts to something entirely different.

How long is allowed editing time?
 
2 days iirc. We could probably make it longer, but I am too lazy.

How is everyone liking the new content management system? Its going to take us some time to fill it with content but I believe we have a good start
 
I would help with my excelent ideas but i will not do it untill you give me an S.S.S. badge :biggrin1:
 
The Slaves Shall Serve project is a real project. A totall conversion, not related to FS universe.
 
O.K. then, consider me as a member of the S.S.S. unofficial.

About my super ideas: I think that HLP, GW and SG should advertise each other in a better way, somethink like the HLP's highlights. That way, new visitors to each site will be more encouraged to visit the other two.
