Should StarFox Go the Way of Zelda TP?

Star Yoshi

Patron to the Stars
By this I mean, should StarFox follow along with Metroid and Zelda and aim for a much darker tone?

I'd say there's enough in there that, reasonably done, there could very well be a good StarFox game made for a more mature crowd.

It's obvious that this series will no longer grab onto the same niche that originally took it in, so perhaps its time to bring the more serious gamers into the series with a story, graphics and tone that are generally darker and more accessible in terms of believability and relation to human emotion (fear and anxiety specifically)?

Well, with SF:Command, SF has been through its WindWaker step (nearly Cell Shading cartoon-thing), so maybe Starfox Wii will be as dark and nice-looking as Twilight Princess.

SF Command was not that happy and kiddy in the plot. All the characters were broken and emotionally destroyed. Only the graphics were close to WindWaker.

However, StarFox does not need to be bloody, dark, go into evil things.
Just a SF 64 Ambiant.

It all depends on the animation and the design.
As I said before, just compare the first level of SF Assault, and Area 6 from SF 64. When you take down a Zeram or a Harlock in Area 6, you feel much more relieved than breaking those crappy colored ships over Fortuna, which explode like they were made of lego bricks.

If they made things look like the space battle in the Lylat Cruise level from SSBB, it would be good.

I think that StarFox needs a bit more seriousness, not to mention a lot of everything else.

But if they did that, I'd be afraid that they would make it too serious. For me, anthro stuff has always needed some level of goofiness and or silliness to make it enjoyable. And if that's the case, then why even bother using anthro characters?

Star Fox needs to appeal to hardcore gamers, and the music needs to be uptight and hardcore. Don't get me wrong, but the Assault music to me was excellent. We need more music that will get you pumped. Actually, as I'm typing this, I'm listening to this song... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjyPdRte75Q (Furries really got some sweet music, if you ask me XD) Something of that type, and something everyone could jam too. But aside from that, I think a darker, more serious Star Fox would be awesome. But not bloody dark, or cussing. we want a game that could appeal to everyone, not just Furs. (if it went darker)

Gosh I wouldn't bother DL the soundtrack if it was made of music as these.

Remixes of SSBB, I mean, the first StarWolf and Area 6 remix are more than correct.

Marek! Don't cross over to the furry side!

I'd like some good music on Starfox. I always enjoy a good musical thrill on a game, like in MW2 when you fight the Flavela gang.

Hey im just saying ive never listen to speedcore/hardcore whatever, but it sounds rad to me.
I would also rather see NEW music for that matter, I wouldn't want to here wolfs theme once he pops up or the same corneria you know what I mean? Both Corneria themes are great (snes/64) and I don't see why a new approach for songs would be bad. Music is really what sets the mood for the game. If you have the uptempo SF Assault menu song, it gets you into the mood to blast things and have fun. OR if you have something like the Halo series menu's, you feel epic and heroic. Music is a huge factor in games.

I agree with the fact that the game even though should be a little more serious and such it shouldn't go to a mature rating that makes it so it is no longer a series for my nieces and nephews to play. More importantly though it should still be a game I want to play and hopefully play with them... or rather they play with me lol.

I know of some games built for the Wii by other companies, but I don't think there are any... but you make it sound like a bad thing XD

Gheist! It is on the chronicle in SSBB Marek, go check it yourself. I'm sure you're not 100 feet away from a copy.

Over 300 posts. :D

Ok so 1 game. Not even developed by Nintendo, and definitely not one of their established franchises. If, and that's an incredibly big if, they decide to send a franchise into M space, I doubt it would be StarFox. So that's not much of an issue.
Besides there are plenty of ways to make a mature game without making it rated M.

I agree. Starfox should darken it's tone only a little bit. not so much, but just enough to appeal to the hardcore gamers with hi resolution explosions and total destruction XD and the multiplayer should be just as fun as it was in assault. The music? well i think they should use a combination of the old and the new music.

Us 'hardcore' SF gamers only make up a tiny minority of the people who'll buy Nintendo games.

So they need to make a game that appeals to us, and the rest of the world.

How they'll do that is any one's guess.

You have to be careful when you ask for a dark storyline in an anthro game, check out Shadow the Hedgehog if you want proof.
