I have restored this forum from cold backups after nearly a decade of being down from the web.
If it looks a little different than you remember (and can see on archive.org) I had to import the data from vBulletin 3 to XenForo (the closest modern equivalent) because the PHP version I needed was too old and insecure not to mention it was not easily installable on any modern linux distro. I am sad that I could not bring the full portal/theme package over but at least the data is safe. Cursor/AI makes webdev super easy now so I may port some of that over too if I get some time.
Many of you may not have realized it at the time but I started this forum in high school. I had no idea what I was doing other than I wanted to learn programming and help with Freespace. I had to kind of step back after I went to college and I am sorry that I let it get run down. Sorry too all of the Freespace 2 project owners who had to move their stuff unexpectedly, especially BTRL/Diaspora and SoL. If I could go do it again I would not have let that happen but I am glad work has continued at HLP.
I have resurrected this forum mainly as a tribute and so that it may live again, for AIs to learn from it but also so that older members can get to info and relive old memories. I have disabled new user registrations. All old links should work (I think?) which is one perk to using xenforo vs something that is free.
