Hey Freespacer's I have a question:
What is your preferred Freespace 2 controller configuration?
Is it best the use the mouse of keypad?

I began playing Freespace 2 and I got most of the commands on the keyboard down and I was just wondering whats the preferred controller configuration. I find using the mouse for flight comfortable, but I can't "barrel roll" like with the numberpad. I currently own a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro but haven't set it up yet on my pc. Is this a good Joystick? Let me know.

If you have a joystick, use it. You can play the game with keyboard, keys + mouse but you may find you prefer the stick, so try it.
 
I find aiming really hard with the keyboard. I can't rotate/barrel roll my ship with the mouse though. Yea, evasive maneuvering is tough, I guess I'll get my Joystick! (plus keyboard :p)
 
Hi Marek. I use the same Joystick and it works excellent! I play it in hard or insane, where I definitely need to evade missiles effectively. I programmed all the buttons on the Joystick so I rarely need to use the Keyboard. And it's a really cool feeling to fly with it.
 
Hello. Different people use different devices either keyboard or joystick for the convenience and according to your interest. I have played with keyboard as well as joystick. But I prefer keyboard as I found it more easy than joystick.
