hi
I'm new and i have a connection problem....
afther following these instructions : http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Multiplayer_Getting_Started_Guide

I try to open a multiplayer game by clicking on the Ready Room from the main hall.

An message is displayed: "connection failed"

I have no idea about my connection problem...
firewall seems ok...
password also...

Can you help me ?

Well. First, you should make sure you've selected your connection type in the Launcher's Multiplayer tab.
Second, what exactly does the error message say?
Third, in the mainhall, press F2. Go to the multiplayer options menu. Make sure the "PXO" box is marked, and your login name and password are correct.

Have you entered your IP anywhere? Either in the Launcher or in the Options menu? If so, delete all those entries.
Next, load up a debug build, try to get into multiplayer. If/When that fails, quit, then post the fs2_open.log and multi.log files here. The first one will be in your data\ directory, the second one either there or in your \data (That is, if you're running the mediavps, it will be in your mediavps\data directory).

Do you have a multi.cfg file in your data directory?  If so try renaming it or deleting it.

@ The E:
yes there is a IP wich I added, I tried to remove it, but it is still there when I restart the launcher (before adding the IP I got the same connection problem). How to remove it ?

How to load up a debug log ?
I've oly an error log wich is located in C:/games/Freespace2/


@ Fubar-bdhr: I remove multi.cfg (maybe the game doesn't work because of the ip...)

You load a debug build by clicking on the big "Browse" button in the Launcher, and selecting a debug build (called fs2_open_3_6_10d.exe or something), and then starting the game as usual. The debug log (called "fs2_open.log") and the multi log file (called, funnily enough, "multi.log"), can be found in the directories I mentioned before. Post those here. Or better yet, post them over on the HLP support board (found here: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/board,151.0.html )

Support for 3.6.9 was dropped awhile ago.  You need to get 3.6.10 which became final yesterday.
