ok well i think it is about time that one of these popped up. so the main idea is to post what you think about the idea of caprica. whether you think it can become as good as the original show, what you wish would show up etc..

i was rewatching the miniseries of BSG and i noticed they said the battlestar galactica was made 50 years earlier. and if im correct that was when caprica is set. i was thinking they could go into the first cylon war and the time after that if the dvd is successful

wait, Caprica... out on dvd the 21st? its a new series, or do you mean "the plan"?

and as far as I've read Caprica won't really be about the 1st war. obviously it will have an effect but its not the spacey action show that was BSG, the focus is elsewhere.

I'm worried cause the trailer I saw on tv last night had a line about children and "What if they don't have to die?"

WTF? So the COLONIES is where the ress tech was developed?
On Caprica?

yet ANOTHER RETCON...

I officially don't give a crap about the NBSG universe anymore past season 2 at most. Game Modders and Fanfics are the only ones who can get this trainwreck back on track by ignoring the BS...

I can safely say that that doesn't happen.

Well according to SFX mag, (bought it while waiting for my lovely delayed plane to arrive, which was a disaster of a flight, such a bad landing I thought we had been shot down! , but anyway im getting distracted :doubtful: )

According to the mag anyhow, CAPRICA WILL PREMIERE ON DVD 21ST APRIL :D :D

You will like it. The first half takes a bit for character development, but it progresses nicely to be pretty frakkin awesome.

It's not Battlestar type of shooting, the director is really gifted with his approach, it is completely different, he shoots as much as 4 different angles on every scene all compelling, but takes the best to build the final cuts. He is very hands off with the actors he wants them focused on their jobs and the results are good, not over acting, very realistic in a technologically advanced way. This looks like a great replacement for the void of BSG ending. It is not BSG but an entirely new approach to the story plot before the fall. I don't want to say much more because it is just too good to spoil. Think a bit of BSG, Scarface/Soprano's, a touch of cold war conspiracies, mixed with Sci Fi approaches toward AI becoming sentient.

So did anyone actually see it yet?

I thought it was pretty damn good,

a few questions were answered :biggrin1:

Should be a good show!!!

Defo different from BSG, but has such a BSG feel to it, (camera work, music, theme)

I enjoyed it overall.

Will admit, was not a fan of the rampant teen sex, but it did remind me of the very last scene in BSG 'DayBreak 2'
When Head Six and Head Baltar are walking through New York

Head Six: Commercialism, decadence, technology run amok, remind you of anything
Head Baltar: Take your pick, Kobol, Earth, the real Earth before this one, Caprica before the fall
Head Six: All of this has happened before

Its like society can reach a certain point of 'sin' before 'destiny' kicks in :)

Loved the music
Very BSG like. Especially the scene when Old Man Adama is talking to a young William Adama you can clearly make out
the song "Admiral and Commander" from BSG. Reminds you of those family moments between Lee and his father.

The original Caprica Cylon looked pretty cool

Question though

How many years away is it until the Cylons rebel?
Was that ever answered on BSG? I think it is 58 years until the fall, but thats well after the first war ended?
Think it ended 40 years ago?
