I assume you'll be developing a new engine for this, right? If not, which will you be using?

Doom3 engine... cool, but overrated. The upcoming Unreal engine looks ten times better. Gameplay possibilities are much better with the HL2 engine IMHO.

Agreed. And for the moment it will be built using the Doom 3 engine due to the lighting effects and the "feel" it gives a player. But we MAY change to the new Unreal engine at a later date.

UnrealE 3.0? if so then you need wait until to 2006, in this year there will be one game that uses Unreal 3.0 but it's not for PC................. (lot sources hints that)

anyway this sound good but i don't like that weapon not enough future look

Ups.. i just found the Hegemonia forum, in the bottom of the list. So nevermind what i said in the PM, Daigoji.
 :p

Anyway, it seems like there is some discussion about the engine used.
I´ve been talking to Daigoji, and we might join efforts on this project. And if so, we might be using the Unreal engine after all, as just as i pointed out it is way more powerfull and easier to work with than the Doom engine. Plus it has built-in support for flying, wich Doom´s doesn´t have. How many of you would like to have some missions where you fly a fighter? I sure would.
And lets face it, the Doom engine is all eye candy and low performance. As soon as you get into a heavy firefight, the game slows to a crawl. Not what people expect in a FPS, right?
The idea is to pull this off with as little code changing as possible, and Doom would require a ton of code changing. Also, regarding graphics, the Unreal engine is every bit just as capable of doing what the Doom engine does.
But while Doom is still very recent, and still has very little support around, the Unreal community is gigantic, and you can find just about everything you need already available. From tutorials to aplications, texture viewers, model exporters, and model skins. You name it, they have it.
That´s how i see it. If we can save ourselfs a ton of work, why not?
:p

Why didn't I notice this before? ;)

As for a question: What sorts of weapons will the GTVA have access to?

Please, stop screaming.

And I didn't know that HL2 is low-end... Anyway, the engine we're going to use is UT 2004.
