yea this is the exact problem im having as well. the xt link above doesnt work. seems to be an ati problem...

I'd be suggesting all ATI users check for new driver updates again. This user over on the Freespace 2 Open boards has just recently updated, and had fixes for OpenGL related issues.

Looks like ATI and Vista are slowly getting there with proper OpenGL support, which can only be a good thing for our many users on those platforms.

hey kara I know this might be a noob question but how do you install these builds?

unfortunately, ATI X1550 series drivers must STILL play catch up with vista.

Download, extract, stick them in the main BtRL folder, Select them with the launcher. You should have had to do much the same with the XT build.

Since they are archived with 7z though you'll need a reasonably recent program to extract but any newish version of WinRar or 7Zip itself should be able to do that.
