Horrible Frame-Rate issues.
« on: June 18, 2008, 09:14:48 PM »
I get really horrible stutters every few seconds, mainly when more than one ship is on screen. I've actually quadrupled my RAM since the last time I played, when it ran fine. The only thing different now is that I installed Patch 2.

EDIT: OK, I've ruled out ships, I think that it's the background for the asteroid field (doubt it) or Scar Asteroid. And the asteroid has textures missing, but I have all the applicable flags on.

Pretty sure someone else had this issue a while back, and fixed it by either:

1. Turning off their anti-virus software that was using system resources every few seconds.
2. Turning off the clock widget in the Vista side-panel (the second hand ticking caused frame rate stutter).

See how that goes, and let us know progress.
Make sure you also have latest drivers for your graphics card etc too.

Not using Vista and AVG is fine for resources. Just realized that it is the HTL asteroid bug, caused by overly-detailed asteroids/mesh errors or whatever.
