drooling to see what she'll look like.  I'm also hoping you might share your process for baking the lightmaps.  I've done a little bit of texture baking in the past, but that was a long time ago. I don't remember much.

No problem. What I do is, I first make a separate max9 version of the model (I always build them in 8 for conversion purposes),
then light them and set up for baking in v-ray 1.5.
Catch me on IM for specifics.

I'm having a hard time believing that this is a game engine mesh.  That's really great texturing.

Just want to let everyone know I'll be out of town and won't have access to a computer/internet until Sunday night (May 4th). Got some extra free days coming up, combined with a local holiday at Thursday it makes for a nice opportunity to go sailing with some friends.
On that note, I'll leave you with the latest updates to the Valk's textures; I had planned to complete map 2 before this trip, but my bosses at work had other ideas.  map 1 (head and engines) is pretty much done, minus baking in AO, map 2 (body) is still a wip - just managed to complete the hull line layer and begin working on the scratch layers (trying to texture and pack at the same time, train leaving in two hours..)
Anyway, see you all when I get back.

Indeed. Normal mapping on this ship will only only make for icing on this already sweet texture work. Puts BSG's inhouse team's Valk maps to shame.
