Check out the cap ship firing, with space and planet background, around 2 min 40 seconds.

X3 Reunion has a fledging modder community.  This includes a few BSG fans ;)

I prefer to keep an eye on a game that looks like they gave combat gameplay equal thought as eye candy.

Looks very Freespace 2 influenced.

Rofl i started watching one of the vids and it opened with: "In a Galaxy threatened by evil hot chicks" i thought, hmm probably not as implacable an enemy as the Shivans but Omni said the game looked promising..."  Then i realized it was a silly advert that wasn't for the game :p

Please define "very good"...

As in, ultra-high-end when the game was released (late 2005) or medium-high-end by today's standards?:p

If you have experience of this game, could you tell if I could run thius game with satisfactory FPS with these specs:

Athlon64 3200+ (32-bit Windows, though)
3 GB DDR-SDRAM
XFX GeForce 7600GT XXX-edition (factory overclocked at 650/1600 MHz for core/memory)

...I think I'll need to get this game, but I won't bother if I can't run it well. So information would be appreciated...:blah:

Used to play X2. i would imagine X3 is based on the same resource system. SO dont think this as jump in > complete mission > move onto next mission. Its an RPG in space, most of the time its managing your cargo ships to collect the right supplies for your stations - then pricing your wares correctly so they sell. not to mention flying around endless galaxies trying to find a particular item or weapon, or a station that sells a particular ship. You can of course be a pirate hunter, disabling then selling the ship - which is the easiest way of making quick money in the start, but you'll never be able to afford the bigger factories and capital ships using this method.

Freespace 2 had one of the finest HUD designs I've ever seen in a space sim. It's pretty hard to fault it to be honest. So I can understand why they wouldn't mess with it.

Now the question has to be, have they copied Freespace to the degree of having a simple yet powerful mission design program? :D

looks like FS2 gameplay combined with Homeworld 2 style shiny graphics.

how long till FS2_Open can do this anyways?
