So far Axem got 150 turrets firing. Worse comes to worse, I can group turrets together in either pairs or groups of four. One turret can have multiple firing points.

Im running EQ6400 at the moment and got nothing but priase for it. I've not heard of a single complaint with the c2d chips. Persoanlly i think AMD/ATI are not going to catch back up again. They're xtx2950x thing is 8 months late, and its still not as fast as the 8800GTX in most aspects and that card is almost a year old. AMD/ATI need to pull themselves together becuase all they've got is there die hard hard fans hanging on with dear life hoping they'll release something to get excited about.

If you really think Intel is ahead of the game you really are lost. Intel released their chips early because they needed a chip to make them a quick buck, they couldnt afford to lose hella money to AMD's quad core, which will be availble on the market later this year.

One example of Intel's "speedy chips" is a Chevy Corvette Z06 vs a Ferrari F430 Spider, the Corvette beats it in accelleration by 0.3 seconds on 0-60 but will wreck if it trys to match its time on a road course because it handles like a brick. (Z06 3.7 vs F430 spider 4.0)

Sounds like an AMD fanboi to me.

The BSG looks awesome. Who's doing the Basestars?
Or something.

did you figure out how to get detail boxes on turrets?

you might want to consider making a more distributed setup making the turrets children of an invisible subobject with a larger detail box around it.

Bob, I'm still trying to figure out the best way to handle LODs and detail boxes together. So far I'm having the most problems attaching detail boxes to barrels. Is there a thread that details a good system to make use of detail box structure?
