Space Ship Art
« on: April 17, 2007, 10:45:17 AM »
Hi, I enjoy drawing space ships and I'm looking around for good systems to add stats at the moment. The art is already in place on my site http://spiralcat.co.uk/space_ships.aspx (with more added all the time) and the stats are coming soon. What are the best systems for generating space ship stats?

Looks good.

What do you mean about generating stats though?

He might think there is a RPG section here... Some games have them.

Let's see... I'm so far out of OLD skool RPG's its not funny but I used to use MEKTON for anime/mecha/spaceships, but that was the 80's.

Have you tried Battletech (The Jumpships & Warships suppliment?)

Or Star wars (D6 & the Newer D20 Editions).

I think there might be a RIFTS supplement for spaceships but not sure.

Good Luck! :D

Please, go ahead and use the art work. All I ask is you give my site a name check if you ever publish images of your mod, or anything like that.

I was given the advice to write my own system for generating stats for the space ship designs and although it is early days I have begun at:-

Now in Colour..

and animated.

I'm working on animations at my new site (did you know google gives them away free? I love free stuff, they don't even want a credit card number like my free microsoft office live site wanted.) http://animationbay.googlepages.com
hmm the url isnt so cool though.
This site just told me it doesn't allow animated avatars, anyone know why not?

Here is an example of how much I have improved. Downloading trueSpace has really helped (it's free, have fun making 3D). My new site is here ->starbrightillustrations.com role-playing game illustrations

My concept: the AC-12-10.  (A= "attack",  C= "3 engines", 12= number of total guns, 10=number of guns with tracking ability)
tech notes:
Number of engines: 3
Thrust Vectoring: Yes (outboard control pitch & roll, inboard controls yaw)
Nose mounted weapons: (L to R) 1x Plasma Cannon, 1x Laser Cannon, 1x ECM Pod
Winglet weapons: 1x 20mm cannon (ea.)
Wing mounted gunpod weapons (Inboard to outboard): 1x Plasma Cannon, 2x Laser Cannon [over/under], 1x Laser Cannon (ea.)

I think I'd try to add a few more rounded shapes to the design.

Maybe the Perseus is a good example:
