OK I got to ask, are you going to have other than static meshes? Meaning physical animated combat? Or is this going to be similar to how I fly 0083 and other non-seed gundams in a posed position only?

We'll be attempting this very thing shortly with the current in-game models and I'll update you when we have results, were aiming for something like that, though it depends if we can have full-flow combat with completely movement, or if we can only do a small amount of that.

It depends if FSOpen will allow thoses such of changes with the models, but we are attempting this :)

Ah... I just wanted to know before I got my hopes up that you were using the ANIMATION code to make arms swing sabers ,etc...

I will be watching this mod closely in case you make any breakthroughs that might help other mecha/anime related mods that need the same features in regards to combat or transformation. :D

Beamsabers are cool and all, but really, they're more of a weapon of last resort if you think about it. A mobile suit can't fence that well because it isn't capable of much finesse.

And didn't we once talk about how to possibly simulate things like bits and arms with the turret code?

That said, Seed annoys the **** out of me and may you die in hole! :p

when is this gonna be uploaded on the website so people can play it please make it as good as gunz or something>i hope we can pick different mobile suits in this game like in a room u choose a mobile suit to pilot that would be cool and stuff get a modules from gundam seed and destiny>>>>>most imprtantly strike freedom O.o

Ok, hopefully not overstepping my bounds (as this is NOT my section) but, please use EDIT/Modify post if you need to change/add something to an existing post rather than multiple posts with no one posting between them.

If you played FS1/2 you already have an idea of how this TC MIGHT function in regards to unit selection and other functions (once Gai sets it up).

Of course how different and elaborate a TC this will be in regard to changed in game mechanics is up to the Mod team. Only time will tell how the final result differs.

From the look of Gai's team I think they have conception well in hand, cause realisticly if you have no idea what the engine can do, how can you pony up ideas to "get this game up?"

And this is not a game, it's a MOD of an existing game (like how the Quake III Gundam project is a MOD not a scratch built game itself). Mods take time to make depending on how big or how they differ from the core game. This obviously is a TC or Total Conversion so that means everything needs to be made from scratch so that mean lots of time.

Most small mods are done in 2-3 months, Big mods or TC's can take YEARS.

People frequently underestimate how easy it actually is to get started modding Freespace. Just cause someone has no skills now doesn't mean that they can't learn them and be a good modeller or FREDder within a few months.

Cheers for that, he has done some great work! Hopefully, if he's willing to share his secrets or assist in anyway, close combat will be moved forwards from planning and testing to a reality.
