Personally, I love my Logitech Extreme 3-D Pro.  It has treated me well, and it has what I would argue is the best layout of any joystick I've seen.  But that's probably just me.  Joysticks all the way.

I love mine too, it works perfectly with X3, nice smooth motion and great placement for buttons. The movement is so jerky for FS2 though, I try to use mouse instead.

@devs: is there anyway of improving joystick performance for FS2/btrl?

EDIT: I play with my arm swinging out to the side so I don't have problems with the throttle being directly in the middle.

If you're having problems you'd probably be best off mentioning it on HLP rather than expecting one of the devs to relay the problem.

the pedals are out, have been for about 6 months now (I just haven't gotten them yet!)  So is the X52 Pro...for 180US ;)
I saw the Pro for the first time yesterday poking around online... has anyone here played with one?  I'd love to hear some honest reviews about how it stacks up against the original x52.

This next one actually compares the Saitek equipment to CH Products:

I need to get one. Any suggestions? I don't even know how much they are, but I don't wanna pay alot. I beat FS2 with a keyboard.

i got an x52 but im looking into maybe getting a ch stick/throttle/rudder setup.

for mousies you could probibly run my mouse script, which greatly increases the flyability of the mouse. could probibly script with little effort a set of mouseflight indicators more graphically akin to the bsg universe.

HOTAS would be my preference, although I don't have one yet, only an old joystick. I utterly DETEST flying with a mouse! Even the concept gives me the shivers! The horror! The horror!

I have quite a few different configurations joystick/mouse N52

Ch Products are by far the best, unlimited programming to boot, you can remap anything to anything you are only limited by you imagination and patience

Right now for FS2 I use

CH Combatstick USB
CH Pro Throttle USB
CH Pro Pedals USB

But I might have to revert to my Descent 1/2/3 configuration if Vector thrusting is implemented correctly using a hat switch, and show these nuggets here in the Scar Test how 6DoF flying is done

CH Pro Throttle USB
M$ USB Sidewinder 3D Pro (Grendel MOD)

Joysticks at meh house!

Nice thing about CH is there is an entire forum of people and programmers willing to help .. here
