I've been coming to this forum since reading about the mod on Joystiq.  Absolutely top notch work I only wish I could help.  I thought it was about time to post as I can't stand lurking around anymore, so here I am.

I only stumbled across this the other day. I have to say I am highly impressed with the work and dedication shown by those developing this project.

It is fair to say that having read a good number of threads there isn't a person here not itching to get their hands on the demo, never mind the full game.

Whenever the demo is released or the game becomes available I look forward to flying with some of you. :)

I came across this site months ago but since i didnt have Freespace i never thought to read on, a decision i soon regretted. When i read in the FAQ's that BTRL didnt need FS i nearly fell of my seat.

My thanks to everyone who is involved in producing this mod, your work is truly spectacular and i am honoured now to be a part of the community of a mod that will go where no other has gone before.

But FreeSpace2 IS a pretty cool & fun game in it's own right. And it's been modded to look pretty up to date. Better yet, it's FREE!:yes:
 
So, there's no reason not to D/L it & give yourself some "flying lessons" for when the BTRL Demo soon appears...

Here's a tut on how to get FSOpen working:

And if you hop on IRC, you can get a sneak peak at the BTRL physics. Once you install Freespace Open, you can use a mod that I developed a long time ago, using a similar physics engine. :) The two are different enough to play differently, but similar enough for one to give you an idea of how the other will play (and give you some practice before release ;)).
