okay guys, i really, really dont wanna pick nits, but...

in the skybox gas giant thingum, im pretty sure the ring lies inside the roche radius of the planet; basically the particles in the ring are too close to the planet and they would fall into it, thus no ring would be seen. but hey, its a game, so whatever goes. just thought i might point that out and see what happens, please dont throw rocks at me...

The small&close ring is there for the coolness factor, I did not consider physical reality when creating it.

Sorry, I didn't throw those, I swear! I just happened to misplace them inside your Roche radius.

Well, about these rings, their location could still be plausible. The Roche limit as far as I know applies only to big gravitation-binded objects like moons or comets.
In theory one of the ways a ring might form might even be a moon entering its planet's Roche radius : the gravity of the planet disrupts the moon, then its biggest fragments, until the largest debris are small enough. These debris, due to the difference of speed in their orbits around the planet, would eventually form a ring...
So if we consider the ring we see in that mission is what remains of a recently destroyed moon, we can still consider that backdrop to be scientifically accurate.

(see a far better explanation with nice graphics here :-P )

those shots look...cinimatic. you could use recordings of ingame missions for cutscenes!

I think (and this is all just from what I know of the FS2 engine), that if the Galactica's hanger is big enough, then the ship can just fly in.  Either stick it in via FRED or give it some way points to fly through the hanger space.  Same way you can fly through the hole in an Arcadia.

The Galactica's hangar is part of the model, you can just fly into it.

Speaking of that, I think it would be fun to have a "free flight" mode, where you could fly any ship in the fleet, the map would just be space, in the convoy.
The road to success is always under construction.

yeah, granted it would be a bit boring after awhile... it would still be cool to be able to fly colonial one or the colonial movers around for awhile just to get to see it and say you did. haha

All you'd need to do would be a table edit and a bit of FREDding.

You'd break multiplayer though.
