Favorite Things About FS2

I've been playing the single player campaign alot in the last few weeks, and it's really an awesome experience. I guess I've just come to expect too little from my video games, because FS2 blows me away in terms of story and fun factor.

My favorite parts:

-Bosch's monologues
-TAGging multiple flights of bombers and reveling in the ensuing carnage
-The Herc II and the Erinyes
-The SOC missions
-"DIVE DIVE DIVE! HIT YOUR BURNERS, PILOT!!"
-Crazy capship fights!
-Me: C-3-9(Engage the enemy); Vasudan Wingman: By your command"
-Waiting to launch nukes until you're right on top of a target (because of flak), then having to bail at top speed to escape the blast
-Sweeping in just as a flight of Shivan bombers launches their nukes, and detonating the warheads all at once with primary fire while they're still close to the bombers (completely fracking up their attack formation)... that never gets old

My least favorite/most frustrating parts:

-Engaging Lokis on any other difficulty than easy
-Goddamn civilian escort missions
-The utterly useless Rockeye
-Wingmen whose favorite pastime is colliding with me
-The tail gunner on the Seraphim bombers

...buut yeah. Share your favorite FS2 memories and gripes here.

True, it IS a BSG forum, but BTRL is based on FS2 Open.... BTRL has the chance to avoid most of its subjective pitfalls.

I'll agree with most of that "bitch" list NBTR - I'll add a couple of my own:

- It bugs me that any of the missles take WAY too long to lock on & I'd expect some of them to pack more of a punch.

- Wingmen are utterly useless, more of their pastimes are ignoring orders & getting killed way too quick.

Skip- I love getting into the thick of it, not paying attention to anything but my target and the warning tones, and suddenly realizing that all my wingmen are dead. Ultimate WTH!? moment.

The pacing of the missions and the reveal of each progressively huger threat throughout the second half of the game is still amazing. The Ravenna which you take out with some difficulty, than the Sathanas which you take out with a ridiculous amount of difficulty, and finally the 80 Sathanas ships blowing up Canopus for absolutely no reason. The fact that final mission actually starts off as a low-key civilian refugee escort mission before going completely haywire, plus the fact that you get different end sequences if you live or die in the final mission. All awesome stuff.

Yeah... & they're usually dead because they ignored orders.

It's also irritating when you command the entire wing to defend an important ship & it gets wasted and you have to replay the level

Well shit if they blew up Cannabis that size its no wonder Freespace got dropped. it doesnt help if all the devs died due to brain cell failure.
