In the interest of being implacably impartial...

thats the fun part, if i know a thread exists but its been dead for months, i think like if I start a new thread i may get away w/out incident but if they find out I'll get a long lecture. If i revive an old thread im sure som1 will give me a lecture.

Create a new thread. Link to the old one.

Anyone who complains about that gets an hour on the naughty step. :p

It's where you send children who've been naughty.

Naturally. I distinctly remember being sent to the naughty step when I was younger. (I also remember putting a hole in one of the adjacent walls with my foot, but that's another story.)

The naughty step is one of the steps in Karajorma's basement.
Or something.

Naughty Step? But a broad leather belt is a much more effective method of drawing up the remorse and regret in someone ;)

Hmmm...
              Why not keep it simple....have a FEW extra ships like this perhaps;

1. Gunship (Destroyer) - Loaded with missile weapons and AA cannons and
maybe a spinally mounted directed energy weapon,
FTL capable. Maybe a Stealth variant? Should not
carry fighters but be able to survive on its own.
2. Support Frigate/Troop Transport - Basically the same model ship (Frigate)
but each one out fitted for its role separately. The
Support Frigate would be set up with additional fuel
tanks and repair bays/craft for Vipers and Capitol
ships and the Troop Transport would be for moving
Marines (Spartaaaans! What is your profession!?!) via
                                 Landing/Boarding craft or dropship.FTL capable.
3. Medical/Evac Frigate -   Nuff said!

I think after seeing Razor if those models I mentioned above aren't present I think it would be a great project for the commuity to submit sketches or
Concept art of what they could look like...then again they may be already accounted for in Razor.

Just my humble opinion...

Any ideas on that suggestion?

With just these ship types the missions that could be developed around them could be quite good!

Just a quick thing...

I know this thread is long gone and people have moved on, but according to the BSG Mod for Homeworld 2, there were smaller duty ships called 'Firestars'. Don't know if anyone has any info on 'em, but they seemed to be light destroyers, probably tasked with taking out Pirate Fighters and small carriers perhaps. They certainly got munched up by the Cylons though :S

I found info on them on some other BSG site. They were built before Battlestars and were used for security and the war against the cylons until the need for a larger ship came around and this is how the Battlestars came to be. Firestars were about half the size aswell.

As the creator, I'm giving you full rights to use the following designs should you wish...

The Panther is a "Destroyer" while the Myrmidon and Adrasteia are "Fleet Escorts"

Destroyers are ships dedicated to heavy combat. They normally have few fighters but mount large and powerful anti-fighter weapons. Massive fixed mount weapons are not uncommon.

Escorts are built for light duty combat, escort, and patrol. They normally carry a small Viper compliment and a decent amount of weapons and are built for mass production. They're the less glamorous ships of the fleet, the work horses.
