karajorma help
« on: February 26, 2006, 06:30:19 AM »
Hi,

I have just re-installed FS2 after a veeerrry long time in order to try out the FS_open modifications that have been made. I followed the install instructions on the FreespaceOracle site, but every time I launch the Launcher, I get "Fatal Error-Failed to read flag file".

Please let me know what I need to fix /adjust to get back on track.

Thanks in advance

You probably need to install OpenAL 1.1

Hey, I have the freespace build set up by MattewPaPa on his help forum but i tried to install Tom's build cause the other build kept on crashing. :eek2: When i try 2 install it over my retail exe there's an error saying...failed to read flag file. If u can help me with this error it'd be nice. If we can't get it sorted out though can u give me some links to try a different build. :nervous:

Have you read Karajorma's FAQ? Can you give the name of the build or link as to where did you pick it up?

Also read the linked HLP-thread.

Dont install any files over the retail files.. instead use launcher (preferably latest version) to select the exe file to use.

I've read everything... I know everything ive done so far should have worked. I got Tom's build from Dh-hunter and he uses it so its viable.

Run the SCP launcher and make sure that you have all SCP features turned off. Then pick the Tom's Old Build exe from within the SCP launcher (use the retail exes option. It won't appear till then) and run it. It should work then.

Hang on a sec. I thought you got an error when you had already installed FS2 and were now trying to initialise the settings before running it.

Are you saying that the SCP launcher won't select Tom's Build? If not run it directly. It should work even if the SCP is giving you hassle with this can't find flags file stuff.

Run the SCP launcher and reset to FS2 Retail settings from the features tab. Then close it and delete launcher6.ini and flags.lch.

That should allow you to run Tom's Build. Just ignore the launcher and run it by actually clicking on the Old Build exe itself.

Technically just you, Wanderer, and brooklynlou.

Anything else relevant to add to this near six month old thread?
