Thanks you BW, a good post as far as I'm concerned. Pretty much covers everything that needed to be said.

Tell me if you want it removed and I will, but I guess I'm kinda pissed off too, despite the fact that I'm not on the team. This is the sort of stuff that damages trust and modding in general. It irks me.

I'd like to be part, but I decided a long time ago not to join any new teams, since I generally end up doing more work than intended and I really can't afford the time at the moment, with TI and other commitments being neglected as it is.

That said, you're right about the FS community though - we tend to trust each other because, with one or two exceptions, we've never had any reason not to. That's one of the good things about it. It's this sort of thing from other people that screws stuff like this up - hence why I'm as pissed as the actual teamsters who've worked on this are.

I've got to say that I expected this to happen from the moment I read bschott say that he was copying disks at the con.

I didn't expect him to be the one who did it though.

That said did he even have permission to give out disks? My original understanding was that he would only have one copy which would stay on his PC at all times.

Let me quote his original post:

Quote
I can promise you these things...
* It will not be used on more than ONE, single computer during the entire con, and removed afterwards if requested.
* That computer will NOT be physically hooked up to the network, and it's network card will be removed during the entire event.
* The Alpha will NOT be shared, or distributed in any way
...
* NO ONE but myself will be allowed access to that computer over the entire con timeframe.

Now even though ti was clear it was going on more than one computer, he did not say anything contrary to the Alpha not being distributed in any way.

Yep. That's what I was refering to. I assumed when no one complained at him for giving out CDs at the con that the original agreement had been modified.

Pretty close to what I would have said.

Did a bit of damage control over on SpaceBattles.

EDIT : Also registered with IsoHunt and left a comment on why the release isn't really indicative of the mod.

How stupid. He got tired of waiting after about a month... for a full demo? Never mind we busted our asses for a few weeks straight just to get the basic pre alpha demo for him to show off. Did he assume that we don't have anything else to do than work on the mod? That the stuff we got done in those two weeks was typical?

But alas, I do find it funny that around a good number of posts in his leak thread is tech support stuff.

Not bloody surprising considering that he doesn't have the faintest f**king clue how the SCP works. Notice how he's saying to install to \Data and says that installing one mod will prevent another from working? Everyone who's been using fs2_Open for more than a week or so knows that you install mods to moddir so that you can have as many mods as you want.

I don't get it. Why did he do that?

Looks like he has been banned already. (I was just going to remove his internal access...).

Well, I'd like to hear his excuse for this though.
