Tmp2 / BSG Mod gets a mention in UK's PC Gamer Magazine

And it's publicity for the mod, which is only a good thing.

Not at all. At this stage in the game, (pardon the pun) publicity is a very, very BAD thing. Once there's a full operational relase out there, safely disseminated accross bitorrent, THEN publicity will be a good thing. But until that happens, the fewer people who know about this project, the better, because if Universal gets wind of BTRL and decides to shut it down, that's that, and we're all left here staring at those beautiful screenshots thinking of what could have been.

We've all gotta help out and help the staff get the thing out the door before that happens.

okay, I took another look at those missions and they're not an accurate representation of my skill level, so I'm going to design a new showcase mission. Oughta be done in a day or two.

Tmp2 / Note To BTRL Staff: Give Us Cruisers!

And your right. Galactica is a Columbia class Battlecruiser. I knew that too. ;)

Yeah, that's exactly what I was suggesting, just in different terminology. I agree with your analysis of the BSG as a fleet carrier, and it's relatively defensive anti-ship weaponry would support the theory that Battlestars operated in naval battlegroups prior to the attack. In FS2 "Cruiser" means "Destroyer;" I propose making the Gunstar a destroyer/escort, like the Fenris in FS, and making the Warstar like an Iowa class battleship.

As far as the Cylons go, I wouldn't think the whole mixed fleet thing would really mesh with their strategy, which seems to be to simply overwhelm with superior numbers. The only non-combat Cylon craft we've seen that have needed escort, such as the Ressurection ship, have been guarded by Basestars, and since the Colonial fleet seems to have no offensive bombers, the Basestars can take care of themselves. They seem to be capable of fulfilling every fleet role, and they seem to be numerous enough to do so.

I'm looking forward to BTRL not just as a player, but also as a mission designer. I can't wait to start putting together missions in the BSG universe, but it would be nice if we had some non-battlestar capital ships included in the game to use in exploring the events prior to Ragnar Anchorage. These wouldn't have to be at all implemented in the actual BTRL campaign, but inclusion would be a boon to FREDers.

meleardil found these a while ago, and i'd suggest using them:
Combatstar: Fills the role of a cruiser. Ought to be slightly larger than one of Galactica's flight pods. Give it a good armarment of antifighter weapons, give it the role of an escort cruiser.

Warstar: A battlestar, but dedicated to ship to ship combat. Make it smaller than Galactica.

Keep up the good work guys! I can't WAIT until this thing is out the door. If anybody tries to shut you down, let me know and i'll go to their house with my buddies and negotiate with them.

Tmp2 / Few BSG ship questions....

I like the idea of have a smaller Colonial capital ship, to sort of fill the position of the cruisers and corvettes in Freespace. We want to avoid messing with canon, but it would be nice to have the ships included for FREDers to explore the events leading up to the Cylon blitzkrieg and those immediately following it. Example: I'd love to put together a mission where a small convoy of transports with a cruiser escort is ambushed, and the transports make it out but the cruiser doesn't.

I'd love to see the Combatstar above drafted as a sort of cruiser and the Warstar implemented as a sort of battleship.

This would also allow us to explore the story of the Peggy, i.e. the drydock thing.

not on this computer and not hosted anywhere, but i could email somebody something later in the week. i've got some stuff from an old scrapped campaign that should work nicely.

one thing is, i've been using the HOTU version of FS2 up until recently and i just managed to get SCP working properly, so i'm still getting used to the new SexP commands.

First off i'd like to say that this whole mod makes me want to jump for joy. Whoever came up with the idea of putting my favorite show in my favorite game deserves an award. I'd also like to offer to help with FREDing. I'm decent with the program, and I could probably handle some smaller missions.
