Shadows of Lylat / Starfox RTS

As Fox's Feather said, it's a Real Time Strategy game and you'll actually be commanding multiple fighter craft at once in addition to the characters. You'll mostly be commanding as Krystal but here's a list of some other characters you'll get to shoot down enemies with:

- Fay
- Bill Grey
- Fox McCloud
- Falco
- Miyu

A new mysterious ship that will appear in the game... go ahead and try to guess what it is:

@Flaming Cobra
I guess it just always looked big to me in her SF2 sprites. :nervous:

@Unknown Target
Yeah the Fleet Ops engine originated from Star Trek: Armada II. It's pretty much a modern version of it that supports things found in modern games:

Yeah the Fur effects in Maya are not very friendly... Not to mention they increase render times by like...... 300%. :shaking:
I think I am going to try and use either standard bump maps or normal maps to get fur effects as a substitute.

well it looks too big. can you make it smaller?

Here's a link to the image which should resize it to your browser settings:

@Flaming Cobra
I recall Miyu only ever having one earring in her left ear, at least according to her sprite in SF2:

I guess I can try and work out fur effects, sadly they don't work in the engine since they are Maya specific (which is why I've not bothered with them yet)

I only just finished it a short time ago... :nervous:

The soldiers turning into M2 soldiers actually can't be fixed, as there's no way to get custom sprite files in the engine. The engine basically transforms the 3D models into sprites when you zoom out far enough since rendering thousands upon thousands of soldiers would crash most PC's in a heartbeat.

Most of the complaints I've heard about the Krystal model are A) The head looks like it was ripped from Assault or B) her tail is not furry at all. For one the intent was was to make it look like the assault head since that's my favorite design of her. For the fur though I guess I have no excuse. :D
I'm glad you seem to like it now though. :cool1:

@Flaming Cobra
She wears the goggles to scare people away. :p

I'm not done with Miyu but I guess I could show a WIP of her so far:

As for Hyrule Total War it's a Zelda mod I've been working on for awhile:

Technical problems with Hyrule: Total War should probably be brought up on the Total War forums (I'll give you a link if you've not found it already.) No harm in asking though.... did you install the Kingdoms expansion pack first? :nervous:

Merci, if you'd like to make a French translation when it's done that would be epic. biggrin

Just a random shot of Krystal and the Krazoa, whom will also show up in the game:

I was following your Project Kursed as well on your board. (too bad it ended up abandonned)
But I guess it was for the better because you're coming with THIS !
I'm a fanatic of RTS games, so StarFox + RTS = pure winsauce.

Is it a mod from some other game ? Or are you using an engine to build up everything ?

Also, lol'd at Marek.

It is a bit unfortunate PK ended up going under, though many of the things I threw into that are going to show up in this. The problem was mostly that no one was doing their part and thus nothing was getting done, and whenever I'd go out of my way to do something like make a 3D model the actual 3D modelers would get upset and say it's not the right style, it's their job, etc etc.

Technically it could be considered a mod, though the engine is prepping to go standalone and open source. More information on it can be found here:
If you like RTS's I actually highly recommend trying Fleet Operations, as well as my other RTS I made: . Might give some insight into how the Starfox one will look and feel.

On another note, is it possible to hide an image on these forums in spoiler wraps so they don't take up lots of space on the thread? Until then forgive me for the pictures stretching out the page.... :nervous:

Nice job, did you make that model?

Indeed, I'm making all the models for this game. :nod:

I just finished up the model for General Pepper today, going to try and get him all animated in the next few days hopefully.

This is my stopwatch lets see if you can beat Sol.

Well I don't think I'd consider it a race... though I'll do my best to finish as soon as possible of course.  :nod:

What are you using to render your cut scenes?

I use Maya 2010 to render the cinematics.

Some Screenshots of Krystal piloting a Cornerian fighter:

It's been a long time since I popped by here on SoL. Some might vaguely remember my name attached to the mod known as "Project Kursed" that faded away several years ago. Ever since I detached myself from that I've spent my time learning to make models and work with various game engines. I've deemed my abilities acceptable now to resurrect a Starfox idea I've had for years now.

The goal of this game is to present Starfox in a psudeo-RTS style game. Players will choose their fighter pilots, command a squadron, and customize and upgrade the fighter craft in their squadron. The single player campaign will follow the exploits of Krystal as she leaves the Starfox team and joins the Cornerian Army. The story will unfold with her discovering some secrets of her past, most notably the fate of her homeworld Cerinia as the Cornerian army begins uncovering ruins of her extinct species. Multiplater and Custom battles will allow players to assume the role of several different factions in addition to the Cornerian army, such as Andross' forces and the Aparoids. Players will construct bases, build up an economy, and field armies of ships as they do battle.

I've no release date yet, though I plan on releasing playable demos regularly. As the saying goes, "It's done when it's done."

Sorry for double post, edit looks disabled here. :/
Just found the musics of Project Kursed on the website (and couldn't find how to post there XD) and I LOVE it. Fay's theme is really awesome, and I'd like to know if it's possible to download it. I clicked on the download button but it showed up a thing to download it on Itunes and it didn't find anything, or else buy it on Amazon, and I don't wanna buy it. XD
So, any way to get it please?

If you want I could send you the tracks in an email, there's no other way to download em as far as I know.

You should check the "Reflections of" series from Kit-Karamak if you miss some ideas for the plot story. What he made with Kursed is just... LEGENDARY. Seriously this guy is amazing, I'd like to see a game of his story one day. ^^

Hehe, we've got the plot all sorted out, but I think it's safe to say good old Karamak's fiction has helped influence the game's story alot.... most notably what happened to our favorite vixen's homeworld...

You've got to be kidding?
Andross, and the whole Oikonny/Bowman family are like the best villains ever! They are very smart, they are strong, and they are anthropomorphic. XD

Seriously, even Andrew is kickass. He looks stupid in the game, but DUDES! He managed to take over VENOM and became an EMPEROR. He must be somehow smart.
Dash is a good pilot and he is smart too. I really hope to see him as the next villain in the next StarFox. He has to be. StarFox needs the comeback of Oikonny/Bowman family to save the serie.

Let's not talk about Andross, he is just awesome. Incredibly smart and has a really sexy voice. XD No seriously he kicked ass. In the comic he is awesome. No. He is LEGENDARY. Too bad he died.

Hehe well... I won't deny that Andross does have a sexy voice....

I was watching some of the videos of gameplay and I noticed two things that made me wonder... One, in a scene where they are fighting above a green plain I see ships that look noticeably similar to the Arwing themselves.... but they have a dark black and grey paintjob. Also I noticed that there are capital ships that look like Cornerian ships.... but they have green stripes instead of blue stripes. I also noticed that (it could be just me) that the Cornerian ships with blue stripes were firing at the ones with green stripes.... could the "Shadows of Lylat" refer to some dark parrallel universe where the Cornerian army is evil and now they've found someway into the real Starfox universe and are preparing to annex everything in their name with the help of an evil, parallel starfox team? Now that would be one hell of an epic villain!
