Tmp2 / Keeping things going
« on: June 12, 2009, 02:34:37 PM »
Well, considering the main page doesn't even link to the forums anymore as far as I can see, the only people that would be here either posted before the site redesign or who frequent the GW forums anyway.

In other words, the number of people here is only going to get smaller.

Tmp2 / BSG CGI designer reveals battlestar sizes

I don't see any discrepancies, to be honest. One image seems to be a screencap from series 1/2, and the other seems to be a diorama using unmodified models (Galactica doesn't even have a dent from the nuke).

In both of those the model for Zephyr would probably be the same. In the screencap one, the fleet looks to be much more spread out. You can see a mining ship that looks comparitively tiny, and two Celestras, one seeming much bigger than the other.

To sum it up

is it just me or have the other ships in the RTF changed in size more than the battlestars. the botanical cruiser and the Zephyr are two ships that in the first seasons were dwarfed by the galactica and in pictures from season 4 are almost as big as the galactica and basestar

From memory, Zephyr's always been that big (probably the largest civvy ship), but I know what you mean about the botanical cruiser, for example:

Daybreak 2 spoilers ahead:
Watch the first few seconds of this video, this is just before Galactica makes the jump to the Colony. I thought I had my sense of perspective all worked out, and then it turns out that Galatica is in front of the botanical cruiser. Sort of felt weird to watch the first time around.
Tmp2 / Aaron Douglas lets slip a MAJOR spoiler about the show

I don't think it was officially released. Douglas just said it for the sheer hell of it, knowing it would be published weeks after they finished filming. I mean, what are they going to do now, fire him?

They might've sued him if he'd signed a non-disclosure form (after all, the secrets need to be kept for another 6 months or so), but given what he's said I doubt he did.

Either that or he's lying.

Before I had the guts to read the whole thing, I read Cl1nt's post and read the first half of the first sentence, but only read:
The 13th Colony was made up
Which left me thoroughly confused :p

One thought I've had came to me when I was watching the miniseries again. What if there could be an on-the-rails level, almost like in Call of Duty, where you have the viewpoint of one of the civvies, for the Battle of Ragnar.

I just quite like the idea of seeing Galactica (and half the fleet) far ahead of you, and then seeing it manoeuver to fight at enemies you can't see yet, and all the while you have the sense that your survival is out of your hands.

Just a thought.

He also used to own a very fine hat.

X-wing Alliance.

Just make sure you patch it, there's a bug in it that can sometimes render missions unwinnable, but definitely one of the best games I've ever played.

When Laura was young, her family was brutally killed by a group of bald men wearing eye shadow. She was then found and raised by a friendly group of people who all called themselves "Sue".

We have a population of 20 million in the space of a country the size of America/Europe. We aren't worth nuking.

But you'll be dead soon...

Tmp2 / Ralph McQuarrie and TOS

I've always loved the stuff McQuarrie did for Star Wars. By itself it's beautiful and very familiar, but also alien from the finished product.

Thanks for sharing these :)

I spent the last ten minutes reciting "Oh my God" over and over again.

The sad thing is, it's how I always imagined Earth would look.
