Tmp2 / Portable BtRL
« on: April 17, 2008, 10:11:55 AM »
Heh, a portable app for it could be cool. I like the idea of giving it on a USB stick to someone for a pressie, maybe even mod it so the stick is embedded in a viper/raider model.

Battlestar Galactica: Beyond the Red Line / Worst Ending Ever....
« on: September 05, 2007, 09:40:56 PM »
The colonials find earth, there are signs of the remnants of the 13th colony but no living humans. They decide to settl and begin sending down civilians. Once the first couple hundred are down the Cylons jump in. Adalla decides to pull the fleet out and jump away so beginning a trek back home to lead them away and allow those on earth ro re-seed the human population. Those on Earth are our ancestors, and those that jumped away made it back to the twelve colonies. On the way they leave signs for them to find us and us to find them. By the time they get back the fleet is so destroyed and the colonies in ruins and so we all are at base one again. The cylons disappear and in a few hundred years it all begins again....yada yada yada

Tmp2 / Wireless Coneection
« on: September 01, 2007, 08:59:18 PM »
Personally I'd go for linksys or Belkin. Give them a go (keep the packaging) and if they dont work take em back and try for a different model. The Linksys USB sticks are generally pretty good, got my sister one to use on her PC, which connects to a Cable wireless router in the lounge no problem at all. Decent speed and connection too.

The fleet reach Earth and settle here.
The Cylons jump in our Solarsystem, Galactica keep them busy while Apollo and a few others sneak onto a Basestar in install a Windows OS on their Maincomputer.
The Cylons DL the new OS and have a lot of Bluescreens and are slaves to Humanity again because they need the updates, patches, servicepacks and licences.

Didn't you know? BSG is all real and we are the children of those that settled here. Microshaft is run by Bill Gates who is a Cylon, as are the rest of the Microshaft company, they have enslaved humanity with Windoze and only Linux users know the truth.

Tmp2 / Clans?
« on: June 15, 2007, 07:38:44 AM »
Plissken, go here to see some of the MP clans that have forums here on GameWarden: http://www.game-warden.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=62
That way you can see what clubs are available and which one takes your fancy.

Takashi, I wasn't aware of any 'squad war' towards you, the 58th or any possible new recruits interested in joining the 58th. While I am all for a little friendly banter, I will make sure that no member of BSG9 is involved in scaring off any recruits to the 58th. At this point in time, I think we should be interested more in getting new players no matter what clan they want to join, not scaring them off.

Look forward to seeing you and the rest of the 58th in combat!

9th Battlestar Group / Some joystick tips...
« on: May 25, 2007, 03:28:51 PM »
Not tired playing with the thrusters yet, but I too set the deadzone to zero, I stick sensitivity to about halfway, if it's up too high it wiggles too much on target when trying to keep her straight. I guess it might be better in a FF stick due to the magnets keeping everything a little 'stiffer' in game.

Tmp2 / How do you guys control the ship?
« on: May 23, 2007, 09:05:49 PM »
Joystick with top hat set to thrusters. Use keyboard as well for the buttons I cant map to joystick, but it is all down to personal taste. Don't want to get in to an argument about which is better, its different tastes for different people. Until you experiment a bit you dont know what you prefer. Using a joystick means mapping buttons to what you want, which can take a while. MP requires different tactics and settings to SP, so what works for one either controls and or settings wise wont work for another.

Tmp2 / Thought about glide
« on: May 23, 2007, 09:02:49 PM »
I don't use the glide too often anyway, so I don't find it an issue. I find that it is overused in MP and that those that can use it correctly have a better advantage. Too many people will simply glide and then keep firing, until they realise they are about 200 clicks from target and not hitting anything. Keep you speed up and don't use glide. Really pisses the guys off that are spinning in circles trying to get a bead on you while your moving.

Not a bad idea actually, although maybe we should post it on the site to keep it secret! :naughty:

Ah well, My tip is, don't overdo the glide function. Yes it's handy, but a lot of the time all you are doing is travelling further away from your opponent, meaning less of your shots are hitting on target. It's much easier to follow them and turn in behind them. Turning quickly will bleed off speed due to change in direction, so it's your choice as to wether or not you fiddle the throttle, I do. Best range for accuracy is anywhere within 700 clicks, but of course the closer you are the better. Don't forget to play your bursts acress the targetting reticule to see where the sweet spot is for each hit. You can hit targets from 1500 clicks, but it's more of a lucky guess IMO. When firing, just shoot bursts or fire. Sustained fire makes it a little harder to stay on target as the gun's pull you off and shake the craft. Short sharp bursts are much easier to make sure your getting those rounds in where it counts.

9th Battlestar Group / Game Warden!
« on: May 23, 2007, 03:51:52 PM »
Just a reminder to all members of the 9th BSG, Game Warden has been kind enough to give us this space to use, so make sure we make the most of it and keep it active. Just been reading a thread on the BtRL forum as well regarding costs to run the Game Warden server. Go check it out if you haven't seen it and please, if you can, donate a little surplus cahs their way to make sure the site stays up and the Dev's have somewhere to finish BtRL!!
