Not so, GlaDOS.  The cake is still baking.

Underdone cake is a bad thing.

For being some kind of active sim french player, I must say I didn't often hear of french players who do use the trackIR, even rudimentary. Maybe it's a new fancy that still have to crawl through the atlantic.

There are many European/Eastern European virtual pilots on the Lock On: Modern Combat forums who use it.  Admittedly, naturalpoint is a US-based company so it would have to be imported.

Edit:  Yeah, I've seen a couple videos of Armed Assault in action with TIR.  Sadly, I haven't been able to try it in FPS realms yet:(  I really want to, though.

Total immersion.
Well...The TrackIR...apart from the fact that it's kind of pricey, I've always found the idea quite strange actually. Moving your head like you would do in the game, that is absolutely enjoyable, but since you're also moving your eyes from the center of the screen...The point is, this appears to be no more realistic and can even be quite annoying to play with ease.

Have you ever tried it?  When calibrated to your liking, a five-to-ten degree head movement can translate to looking 'over your shoulder;' a slight movement is all that is needed to bring your view back to center.  It is actually quite natural.  I have flown Lock On only a handful of times without TrackIR 4 since I got it a couple years ago...and I feel so confined and suffer a severe lack of situational awareness.

For a joystick user especially, it is much more intuitive than, say, mouse movements or using a hat stick that must be manually re-centered.

Put briefly, TrackIR changed my simming world.

Sorry for pulling a Lazarus on an old thread but...what the hell is a track IR system?

Lock On has never been the same since.  I will never play a flight sim without it again if I can help it!  Situational awareness improves ten-fold.  no joke.

And it's not just looking around 'inside' the cockpit.  You can track a target much more naturally with minimal head-movements, and re-center your view naturally when you draw a bead on your target...much more natural or efficient than hat-look or mouse look.

Tmp2 / Correction request

Shacknews response:

Hey Chris,

No problem. Consider it appended.

Hope you’re all doing well.

Check the shacknews interview (the original on, not the mirrors) in the next week or so and see how it looks.  WM, the request was to give you credit for the 'initial implementation' of the glide code.
