Grand Admiral xgmx,

I've sent you a reply to your email that I received, I look forward to hearing back from you.

58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / Sound Off, 58th!
« on: December 29, 2008, 12:25:16 PM »
Months have past, and it seems that nothing has changed. On the BtRL forum there are several posts asking what the status of the project is, and the words from above are as follows: BtRL is not dead. It is still continuing, and it will be done when it's done.

So the project is still alive. The question is, are our pilots?

If I could ask all pilots that still consider themselves to be part of the 58th Viper Air Wing to sound off in this thread, we can figure out our numbers again.

But what's the point? We're just going to drift apart again.
Perhaps this is true. But aside from anything else, it gives us something to do right now while we wait.

So sound off guys. Even if you're no longer sure which squadron you belong to, or even if you're not sure if you're still part of the 58th.

Perhaps it's time for another sound off, just to find out who is still around? I'll put up a thread.

58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / Merry Christmas!!!
« on: December 29, 2008, 12:04:18 PM »
Merry Christmas, guys. Hope you had a great day without having to deal with too many toasters.

And hey, a Happy New Year too. Anyone making new years resolutions? I considered making mine, "quit smoking" until I realised that I may as well make it "stop breathing" :D

Ha, interesting news. So BtRL looks like it's got some competition...

I'm glad to see that there is still interest in BtRL out there. As Slipstream mentioned, this thread is about a year old, so the interest that you see here is a bit outdated.

To clarify matters, the 58th Viper Air Wing is currently inactive. We're not out for good, but we're waiting for either the full release of BtRL or a major update to the demo before we really start things up again.

However, this is not to say that you won't be able to find some pilots from our Wing that will be up for a bit of multiplayer fun. Frak, most of them could probably do with the practice after such a long time away!

Head back to the main 58th forum and create a new thread, since this thread's subject line might deter some of our other pilots from seeing your request.

Have fun, and frak up some toasters for me.

Perhaps it is somewhere, but this is the first I've heard about it.

Woah, I've been away for far too long.

Great intelligence, Foundry. With any luck this will restore some hope in those that were thinking the game was losing it's audience.

Oh, and you can make cheap puns on my words any day :)

58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / BSG Season 4 Discussion
« on: April 30, 2008, 05:11:43 PM »
I thought I would take advantage of the whole "general discussion" idea and ask what people have thought about Season 4 so far?

Spoilers are allowed, so if you haven't seen the episodes yet and don't want to know what happens, don't look below this post.

What I was hoping for was some announcement about increased activity levels from the leadership instead of a hands off approach until the game is released. This annoucement basically gives the people in charge a "im off the hook" mentallity until the final release.

As Gulo pointed out, we can't promise increased activity levels at this stage. Slipstream has also made another fair point. While this game is still in it's demo stages, there are issues surrounding compatibility.

To reinforce Gulo's response, Iceman, I will say that I don't consider this plan to be a way for the leadership to think that they're off the hook. I still check out the forums and attempt to help anyone out if they have a problem, and this isn't going to change.

I consider this to be the best course of action until a more solid game makes an appearance. It gives pilots that want to fly the ability to do so without any formalities, while at the same time allowing pilots to still proudly say, "I'm with the 58th Viper Air Wing."

Finally, as Gulo has already said, if there is anyone with suggestions, questions, complaints or general comments, I will also be around to hear them.

I'm only the website admin, and without Lightning appearing and telling me to modify things I have nothing to do.

However, as I wrote to Ice-Man in a PM, there is a plan being batted around at the moment to deal with the near-future of the 58th Viper Air Wing. If the higher powers agree with the idea then we'll put it to a wing-wide vote. It'll just be a couple of days hopefully.

Well I spoke to Lightning and informed him to check in. Now we'll just have to wait and see I guess.

I'll get in contact with Lightning first and find out what is going on. If he is still not able to attend then I guess we'll have to have a think about other options. I'll be able to give you guys an answer by tomorrow sometime.

I'm not entirely sure what to suggest. This problem is going to occur time and time again because there is no one in charge to set up proper matches against other clans. Without matches (whether they be against our squadrons or another clan) there is nothing connecting the Wing together aside from a love of BSG and BtRL.

The Major's (and previous leaders') disappearance has been a great problem in my opinion. As leading figures, it is their responsibility to get games together. What is first needed is someone who can be around regularly and can get in contact with other clans for arranging games.

Once we have someone who can get things together, we can figure out who is still around and who isn't, and using that information we can sort out a couple of games. But first we need to find out where the Major is, and whether we need to find a new leader or not.
