General Discussion / found a free shell server and host...
« on: April 06, 2006, 02:40:45 AM »
If anyone is a unix fan, or just wants some basic hosting with shell access (you actually work on the host) check this place out:

It's a part of from what I gather. To get a basic permanent account, they ask for 1 USD in the mail donation, or 5 USD paypal (minimum paypal will allow). That gives you a few more features and removes the 128 day expiration. Servers are running NetBSD.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, you probably wouldn't be interested. :pimp:

I should mention it's been around since 1987...

FS2NetD / map file wierdness
« on: April 03, 2006, 04:24:41 PM »
I just did a clean install of FS2, as per the stickies. I went to run a PXO game just to verify everything was good, and EVERY map was not recognized by PXO, and stats would therefor be saved (this was before the hosting stat warning).
My tables pass inspection on signing into PXO and joining a game.

Is this an unusual phenomina, or should I be doing something wrong?

Exactly what I did:
Install FS2. Run FS2. Quit and update with retail patch.
copy tom's old build over origional fs2.exe. Install launcher. Run and configure.
copy fs2netd config file to fs2directory\data

I did nothing else, and it SHOULD be working properly.

Where can I find the latest of Tom's build? Any special instructions for installation?

FS2NetD / suggestion

The fs2netd webpage seems pretty usefull, but how about a simple line somewhere telling the date and time of the last game creation? Maybe even a history (only a few days back) with basic stats (Started X; ended Y; peak players Z)

FS2NetD / fs2open_pxo.cfg
« on: March 16, 2006, 04:01:29 AM »
I am aware that FS2NetD is currently down and on the way back up. Will the contents of fs2open_pxo.cfg need to be changed? The current contents of mine is:

That correct?

BTW, first time on the forums (and hopefully online in FS2 soon). Using the latest CVS of SCP (moving the media vps elsewhere for multiplayer, will that avoid "hacked tables")... that should be compatible from what I gather...

Look forward to venting some derelicts :drevil:

oh, and bow down before the power of my witty sig :)
