Shadows of Lylat / Official "what is going on" statement
« on: July 28, 2011, 08:19:17 PM »
You may have noticed that we have been pretty quiet for a while now.

Don't worry. We are not dead!
Now less than ever. We're determined to finish this game.

There are three reasons for the recent lack of communication.

1. Until a while a go, the development went pretty slow. We made small steps, but still had problems getting all the main features of the game working, so there wasn't much to show or tell.

2. Recently we have made some bigger changes to the project. We have made a lot of progress recently, thanks to a few very active users. stfx played a big role in this. Until we are done with the main changes we can't show you anything that isn't heavily work-in-progress.

3. Nintendo has not closed down this project for years. They have just released a remake of Star Fox 64 (Lylat Wars) for the 3ds. SoL probably won't have any influence on their sales, but it still seems wrong to advertise another Star Fox game while they are releasing an official title.

You won't hear much from us for a while now. There is a lot of work to do before we can show you anything new. There are some very intersting developments, but we are not ready to let you in on them just yet.

Please be patient. We are working hard to make it worthwhile!

Shadows of Lylat / Happy new year to all of you!
« on: December 31, 2010, 05:13:25 PM »
Happy new year to all the team members and the whole community!

I'm sorry we don't have any surprise for you this year.
This month was a rough one for me and things only calmed down just now.

Anyway, looking at the devlopment, I think this was not a good year for us.
Many people, including myself, were very busy and there hardly was a constant flow of progress. More like a few big chunks of progess and then times when nothing happend at all.

But don't worry, things can only get better now.
Even though it means there won't be any screenshots of new content, I'd like to stick to the agenda of the last few months and focus on refining the gameplay first.
There are many missing features and before we continue with the game I'd really like to improve the gameplay and controls.

That will be a hard time for the community, as there won't be many screenshots of new content.

This is only temporary though. "The E", who btw also joined our team, is working on a material system for the engine. That mean we can use custom shaders.
I already have a bunch of ideas. Expect a performance boost and some neat visual improvements. ;)

Also, I hope a friend of mine, who is a pretty good LUA scripter will join the team next year. Together we can tackle tackle the most urgently needed scripts for SoL.

SoL is not dead. Not even close to it. ;)

And now go celebrate!

Shadows of Lylat / Happy Birthday Brox
« on: July 18, 2010, 12:21:28 PM »
Happy Birthday Brox!

I don't think I have to introduce Brockenstein to you guys. He has done a great job of managing the community.
He's one of the most active members in the team. Always there when issues have to be discussed, no matter if it's about website or gameplay topics.

Even though it's his birthday he is working on something new for the community right now.

I wish you all the best for the next year in your life. :)

Shadows of Lylat / Happy Birthday D-Mac!
« on: April 22, 2010, 12:23:47 PM »
Happy Birthday D-Mac!

D-Mac in in charge of the voice acting in SoL. Even though we didn't get to the voice acting yet, he already impressed us with his own skills already.

Even when most members were busy and the progress was slow, D-Mac was always here.

I'm sure the voice acting in SoL, even though it's going to be tough, will turn out great and the one you should thank for that is D-Mac!

So my best wishes for you and have a great birthday!

I found a link to this thread on HLP.

Well... I have to say the first picture isn't as imppssible as the other ones...  :naughty:

We have been busy with optimizing our game content and adding new features this month.

The next thing we'll have to take a look at is the multiplayer mode. Multiplayer missions, balancing and additional multiplayer features.

Which multiplayer game modes do are you looking forward to in Shadows of Lylat?

A few things will change on the page later.
We'll add more content and try to constantly update the site with news.

I like this ship far better than the new Enterprise.

Anyway, I got my hands on Tobias Richter's model and just quickly composed some stuff together.

I hope I'll find the the time to do something more complex soon. :)
