Hosted Multiplayer Squadrons / Flying Tigers, Now Recruiting
« on: July 19, 2007, 09:42:41 AM »
Hey all, Turey and I have just started up a selective clan. We only recruit those who we feel can cut it. So if your looking for a BtRL clan that is all about playing hard and is willing to pass on some techniques of our own to you, we are now recruiting! We have a fully functional site up (temporary design), and are totally open for suggestions. We also supply dedicated clan members with free emails (I.E. turey@ftsquadron.com), with space up to 8 gigs and no email attachment size limits.

We invite everyone to join our games, but keep in mind, we dont recruit just anyone, and there will be very few exceptions if any. We do not permit the use of mods or "hacks" of any kind to better your performance and bug exploits are prohibited.

To apply, you can post here, e-mail me, or instant message me on the clients below :

« on: July 19, 2007, 06:54:48 AM »
Hi, I am the co-squadron leader of The Flying Tigers BtRL Squadron, we are a brand spanking new squadron and I challenge you guys to a 2 on 4 team vs team. Adalla, and 3 pilots of your choice (that is IN BSG9 of course) vs. Turey and I. Our suggested time is 3:30 PM PST / 6:30 PM EST thursday (July 19th). I wont be availble until shortly after 3, unless I get off work earlier. If you need to resechedule it to another time or another day, let us know.

Standard BtRL-Teamwars rules for this event.
The event consists of 3 rounds of 5 respawns, all three events occur on MT-FFA-01.fs2 (Nowhere to Hide).

Good luck!!!

FS2NetD / Setting up for multiplayer (To play IP Games)
« on: July 03, 2006, 12:17:59 AM »
For those of you interested in Freespace 2 multiplayer... here are some steps for setting up Freespace 2 in multiplayer. Note: no matter what build you play, you dont have much of a choice on graphics, your going to need to run retail graphics if you wish to play games on valid hosts.

---Setting up Toms build---
Step 1: download Toms build

Step 2: Save the FS2.exe to the C:\Games\FreeSpace2\ (default directory)

Step 3: Make sure you dont have any mods or Media VPs in the main directory.

Step 4: Setup your network using the retail launcher (example shown below)

Step 5: Go into freespace2 and press F2 when you get to the main hall, goto the multi tab and make sure the pxo light is off (shown below)

Step 6: Add the IP of the desired host, the example shown below is what it should look like as if you were joining my host.

Your ready to go !!!

---Setting up FS2_Open (SCP)---
(Using other tutorials you should have FS2_Open already installed at this point)

Step 1: Move your mv files (media vps) to their own folder within the freespace 2 root directory. We recommend labeling this Media_VPs.

Step 2: As future reference if you want to use your mv files this is how you can do it without having to move them around. Goto the SCP Launcher and select the MOD tab at the top. and select "select mod" and select the media_vps folder. (examples shown below) Keep in mind before you play multi your going to need to select NO MOD if you wish to play without hacked tables.

Step 3: Setup your network (example shown below)

Step 4: Go into freespace2 and press F2 when you get to the main hall, goto the multi tab and make sure the pxo light is off (shown below)

Step 5: Add the IP of the desired host, the example shown below is what it should look like as if you were joining my host.

Your ready to go!!!

For those of you interested in Freespace 2 multiplayer... here are some steps for setting up Freespace 2 in multiplayer. Note: no matter what build you play, you dont have much of a choice on graphics, your going to need to run retail graphics if you wish to play games on valid hosts. Toms build is the most stable build and probably your best bet if you want to play multi.

---Setting up Toms build---
Step 1: Go here to register an account.

Step 2: download Toms build and the fs2open_pxo.cfg files.

Step 3: Save the FS2.exe to the C:\Games\FreeSpace2\ (default directory)

Step 4: Save the fs2open_pxo.cfg to the C:\Games\FreeSpace2\Data (default directory)

Step 5: Make sure you dont have any mods or Media VPs in the main directory.

Step 6: Setup your network using the retail launcher (example shown below)

Step 7: Launch FS2 and Play!

Step 2d: use the launcher to activate the Media VP's when playing single, example shown below on how to do this. To undo to run multi click "NO MOD".

Step 3: Place the FS2_Open executables in C:\Games\FreeSpace2\ (default directory).

Step 4: Place the and the fs2open_pxo.cfg in C:\Games\FreeSpace2\data\ (default directory).

FS2NetD / compatiblity issues with missions with the new pxo
« on: March 02, 2006, 06:27:50 PM »
I just wanted to ask how the compatiblity issues with missions with the new pxo is going to work?

I was talking to kara earlier today, and came up with the idea that you could make it so when a person joins a game the host (if hes on fs2open) would check to see if all the players were fs2open players, if there is a retail user, it will force the server not to be able to play FS2_Open only missions. Just a thought :)

« on: February 27, 2006, 07:24:55 PM »
Yeah, if you havent noticed, my domain (freespacezone.com) is in need of renewing, my bastard hosting company didnt warn me that i needed to renew it, I have contacted the administrator, I just hope he actually does something about it, i miss the old administrator (who was my friend actually). Anyways, you can still access my mirror here at www.freespacezone.net.
