Tmp2 / Viper flight controls in the show
« on: April 11, 2008, 02:24:21 PM »
I like to make my simulations as accurate as possible, and because of that, I got to thinking (again). How do the controls in a Viper work? More specifically, does moving the stick to the left make the ship roll left, or yaw left? Do pedals control yaw? I want to set up my own controls for BTRL as close as I can to how it works in the show. So, anyone got the low down?

Tmp2 / This just in...
« on: April 10, 2008, 03:33:01 AM »
At the end of tonight's The Daily Show, when John Stewart had his customary hand off to Stephen Colbert, Colbert referenced BSG by "mistakenly" confusing the show with the hearings involving General Petraeus.

And it was quite amusing. :D

Tmp2 / BSG reference in Scrubs
« on: December 17, 2007, 12:02:28 AM »
Not that it's tremendously important at all, but I was amused by this line from Doctor Cox in Season 7/Episode 6 of Scrubs:

"...of course, I've only been a doctor for some 20 years, and the person who wrote that Wikipedia entry also authored the Battlestar Galactica episode guide, so what the heck do I know!"

Tmp2 / Clip of "Razor" during season premier of "Eureka" on Sci-Fi
« on: June 23, 2007, 07:17:35 AM »
Title says it all. For those of you who watched the series finale of Stargate, there was a small ad saying that there would be a sneak preview of Razor during the season premier of Eureka. I, for one, will be camping out to see it.

58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / UTC/GMT to EST
« on: April 16, 2007, 02:20:21 PM »
I see some confusion on this, so I'd like to clear it up. Due to daylight savings time and all that wonderful stuff, right now we are in Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), which puts us -4 hours behind UTC/GMT. If it's 1800 (6:00 pm) on the East Coast, it's 2200 (10:00 pm) in UTC/GMT. We'll be in EDT until November 4th. So keep that in mind when converting match times to your time zone if you're on the East Coast (I dunno about the rest of the U.S.).

58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / For the Air Group

A little something I whipped up in PS. I can make any text any of you all might like to look like this.

58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / 58th squad image
« on: April 04, 2007, 03:19:38 PM »
Here's a temporary squad image to use in BTRL until someone more skilled than I can make a better one. Put the image in this location:

Demo folder > Data > Players > Squads

Tmp2 / Grace Park, Tricia Helfer, and Command and Conquerer 3
« on: March 09, 2007, 12:32:49 AM »
What do those three things have in common? Park and Helfer play the roles of two characters in the game Command and Conquerer 3: Tiberium Wars, according to the article on the game in the latest issue of PC Gamer. So if you really can't get your fix of Number 6 and 8, you now have another source to admire them. :D

Tmp2 / About Baltar (SPOILERS from Season 3)
« on: December 28, 2006, 07:33:17 PM »
Ok, hopefully that spoiler tag in the title will warn away those who might not want the slightest wiff of what's in Season 3. :p

The purpose of this thread (which will hopefully be less controversial than the one about the aerodynamics of Vipers) is to try and decide if Baltar is going to be revealed as one of the 5 models of unknown Cylons. Obviously it's been hinted at so far in the season, with references to Cylon "projection" similar to Baltar's mental Six, as well as the hybrid's vague muttering about the "Chosen One", Three's drawings from her meet-and-greets with God, and other such spiritual hoo-hah. But here's another bit of possible evidence, back from Season 1...the Season 1 soundtrack, actually. The lyrics (originally in Italian) from the piece Battlestar Operatica are as follows:

Woe upon your Cylon heart

There's a toaster in your head
And it wears high heels

Number Six calls to you
The Cylon Detector beckons
Your girlfriend is a toaster
Woe upon your Cylon heart
Alas, disgrace! Alas, sadness and misery!

The toaster has a pretty dress
Red like it's glowing spine
Number Six whispers:
"By your command"

Woe upon your Cylon heart

Notice the first and last lines in particular: "Woe upon your Cylon heart." A simple line that no one was ever supposed to take seriously, or a hint at what Baltar really is? What do you all think?

Tmp2 / Atmospheric flight?
« on: December 16, 2006, 09:54:43 PM »
Ok, something I've been trying to get my head around for a little while now. How do Vipers and Raptors fly in an atmosphere? As far as I can tell, they don't have control surfaces, and just use their thrusters. Anybody have an insight into this?
