58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / Sound Off, 58th!
« on: December 29, 2008, 12:25:16 PM »
Months have past, and it seems that nothing has changed. On the BtRL forum there are several posts asking what the status of the project is, and the words from above are as follows: BtRL is not dead. It is still continuing, and it will be done when it's done.

So the project is still alive. The question is, are our pilots?

If I could ask all pilots that still consider themselves to be part of the 58th Viper Air Wing to sound off in this thread, we can figure out our numbers again.

But what's the point? We're just going to drift apart again.
Perhaps this is true. But aside from anything else, it gives us something to do right now while we wait.

So sound off guys. Even if you're no longer sure which squadron you belong to, or even if you're not sure if you're still part of the 58th.

58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / BSG Season 4 Discussion
« on: April 30, 2008, 05:11:43 PM »
I thought I would take advantage of the whole "general discussion" idea and ask what people have thought about Season 4 so far?

Spoilers are allowed, so if you haven't seen the episodes yet and don't want to know what happens, don't look below this post.

58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / The Cylon Base
« on: January 09, 2008, 03:28:32 PM »
For those of you interested that haven't already read about it, The Cylon Base, the only BSG:BtRL clan dedicated to Cylons, has closed down. Source

(Yes, I know it was posted 3 weeks ago, I've fallen behind in my current events).

Sure, we can cheer over the fact that there are a few less Cylons to go up against now. But the downside is...well, there are a few less Cylons to go up against now.

It's a shame to hear about this, personally. Hopefully the 58th won't go the same way.

58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / BSG : Rise of Caprica [BF2 Mod]
« on: January 09, 2008, 03:21:08 PM »
Doing my usual wander around the Internet, I came across this:

A modification for Battlefield 2, "Rise of Caprica is a multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS) based in the Battlestar Galactica universe. Players can engage in space, air and ground combat as Colonials or Cylons as the Twelve Colonies fight to regain their homeworlds."

It's apparently got quite a few bugs to it at the moment, but if there is anyone that plays Battlefield 2 then this might be worth checking out.

58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / Attention: Chief Has Been Robbed
« on: November 16, 2007, 01:15:25 AM »
I apologise about creating a new thread about this, and I'm not looking for a sympathy vote. But I thought that you should all know that as of several hours ago my house was robbed.
Ignoring the personal pain over this (believe me, I want to hunt lots of people down just to sort this all out) I think that I should let you guys know in case the...person (and that is the polite way of putting it) gets hold of any of my account information and decides to get cocky by posting things in my name.
I'm working through every account that I have on the Internet, and I'm changing every password and security question that I have around.

I might be absent for a couple of days, purely because I don't have any technology on me at the moment (I'm borrowing a friend's computer).

I just wanted to let you guys know in case someone does get hold of my information and feels like messing around a lot.

58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / BSG Pilots
« on: November 11, 2007, 06:57:14 PM »
I decided to go to google and type in "58th Viper Air Wing." This is because of something that I had read last time I typed it in, and I was interested in remembering what it was exactly.

The link I was looking for wasn't there anymore, but I did find this:

It seems to be something of a hub for the clans of the BtRL mod to join up and arrange meetings. In some ways it would make things easier when organising games in the future against other clans. They also seem to be trying to implement a score board of sorts, which should be interesting if it gets off the ground.

I've gone and signed up and made my presence known, so if there are any Squadron Leaders that have an exact date that everyone in their squadron can play then they can let me know and I can sort it out. Or of course, you could head over there and arrange things yourselves.

58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / Latest Pilot Listings
« on: July 10, 2007, 03:08:13 PM »
First of all, thanks has to go to Soldier. He was kind enough to go ahead at the very end of the "Sign in" thread to go through the list and find out who signed in from which squadron. It saved me a bit of a job which was a surprise and much appreciated considering my moving house.

And now to the main point: the new positions. Obviously, with 20 pilots signed in we couldn't have all 9 squadrons, and we couldn't maintain everyone's rank, especially the rank of Captain for those squadrons that have been disbanded. Whether those people will become Ensigns or Lieutenants is something that the Major will have to decide on.
However, ranks aside, here is the list of the pilots and the squadrons that they will now be serving in:

Fishbait(Cpt. Ritter)

Soldier (PsychoticShroom)

Lightning(swiss gripen)

If anyone has any questions or comments about this, you can leave your message here, or contact either me or the Major if it's more private.

Tmp2 / Battlestar Galactica: Razor

Anyone else heard about this?

Perhaps I'm just behind in keeping up with the goings on of BSG, but I knew there was going to be some sort of prequel focusing on Caprica. This one completely passed me though, sounds like it could be interesting.

I've recently been in contact with the BSG9 guys. They're looking to get some hosting over at Game-Warden I believe, but that's irrelevant for the moment.

I've been told by Foo, one of the guys at BSG9, that they are planning on doing some training tonight, and all the pilots from the 58th have been given an invitation to head on to the game and join them if they wish.

I don't have any details other than that, but judging that I got the PM about an hour ago, I would assume that by "this evening" they're talking GMT-6 time.

If anyone feels like joining them and representing the 58th, then just head in game and check to see if there is a BSG9 server around somewhere. Or you could PM Foo for further details.

It's short notice, but I'm just putting it out there for those that don't have anything going on this evening.

58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / It''s here...

EDIT: That said, it might take a couple of refreshes for everything to become viewable for everyone...

58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / Character Information Needed
« on: April 16, 2007, 11:02:40 PM »
Alright, I'm taking baby steps when asking for information, since I've found that if I ask for too much I easily get confused and that makes things move more slowly.

Can I ask every pilot to send a PM to their squadron leader giving them your pilot's name and callsign. That's it. Not the bio (if you have one) or any other information that you think might be handy to send while you're at it. Just your pilot's name and callsign.

Can the Squadron Leaders then send me a PM with a list of the pilot names, callsigns and ranks. The Squadron Leaders will obviously appear at the top of the list, then the squadron's second, then third, then fourth.

Once I have those 9 PM's it should be plain sailing on the website. I've got all the graphics and HTML sorted, I just need these bits of information at the moment to give me a good enough reason to upload it to the website. That's got to be an incentive to get this done soon, right?

58th Viper Air wing: The White Knights / Temporary Leave
« on: April 09, 2007, 04:34:08 AM »
Hey guys, I'll make this quick. I seem to have completely forgotten to let you all know that I'm not going to be around the forums (or the Internet in general) from today until Saturday. I would like to say that it's for sun, sand and sea, but apparently the weather in Spain is looking grey and cold...bugger.

Speak to you all in a few days,

Alright men, it's been decided that as well as pilot skills, we all need to start practising for ground combat. Afterall, we need to be able to fight the Cylons on the ground as well as in the sky.
The most important aspect of ground combat is silent communication. It saves lives, so be sure to review the following signals and learn them by heart. Who knows when they could come in handy!

If you're still a part of Black Squadron, then sign in in this thread to let us know. The original "sign in" thread appears to have been deleted.

If you're still a part of Grey Squadron, then sign in in this thread to let us know. The original "sign in" thread appears to have been deleted.
