Now that would be a spoiler. I can say this much. You'll meet at least one Dante. There aren't plans for any vessels of similar, comprable size or strength at this point of time.

Be sure to check the official forum reguarly as updates come in. A fair bit is starting to pop up on it.

If you compare the statistics of the Sathanas to the Dante, then yes it is superior. By default, it is way more superior. I want to have a Shivan foe that can be defeatable and formidable, and the Dante is the answer. Then again, I could always go with the Diablo. But I haven't found a use for the Diablo, so I dont think it'll make an appearance.

Yeah, I mean the SSJ Dante, and I decided to make it a normal Juggernaut. All Juggernauts are huge as you no doubt know.

This update is on the original thread present on sectorgame:

As a first update, I'd like to mention the early details of the modification. To make planning segments of the story easier, it is being divided into ACTs. The first ACT, titled "Emergence" in honour of the original Cerberus, has finished being scripted and is under construction. Without delay, here are the details for ACT 1:

"Emergence begins in the year 2380 A.D, approximately thirteen years after the Second Great War. The setting is the Altair system, under the protection of the Vasudan 16th battlegroup. Leading the way is the GVD Nafretiri, a Hateshsput-class destroyer. About to take place is the quarterly Terran-Vasudan exchange program. Joining the Nafretiri are three Terran pilots from Vega's training academy who would've otherwise joined the Terran 7th fleet in Alpha Centauri. You play as Wolf, one of the promising three pilots. Accompanied by Avatar and Ghost, you will wade your way through the events waiting just ahead."

ACT 1 will span approximately seven levels. Each aims to be different in terms of mission type, to create a lot of variety, so rarely will two levels seem the same.

No forums dedicated to Cerberus exists at this stage, but if you would like to contribute, you are more than welcome.

When I mentioned contributing, I meant like:

-Volunteering for Fredding levels
-Textures/Effects/Interface/Hud stuff

Anything like that if you really feel up to it.

For those who only visit Game Warden, this will be new. For others who visit from Sectorgame, this may be familiar. This is the original Sectorgame thread:

"I'm announcing the return of Cerberus, a project I commenced well over a year ago and left idle due to development/real-life issues. This is not just a return, but also a reboot, and I plan to see this one completed.

The new Cerberus plot is set thirteen years after Capella in the Altair system. The player is taking part in a Terran-Vasudan exchange program onboard the GVD Nafretiri, flagship of the 16th Vasudan Battlegroup. What starts out as a renegade threat will soon turn into something much more extreme.

This is what the project aims to feature:

-A conflict bringing both Terrans and Vasudan forces together against the returning Shivan foe
-A lineup of old and new craft with several new weapon technologies
-Some new effects and audio enhancements
-A completely new plotline with character involvement, largely inspired from the Blue Planet saga by Darius and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 by Infinity Ward
-Hopefully a collection of new combat, briefing and other miscellaneous music tracks
-A reinvented new alien race

And in response to an earlier question by Starlord:

-The SJ Dante returns

I hope there are some that might take interest in the return of Cerberus or want to band together to make it happen someday. I will understand if very few take interest or place trust in this project due to failing to deliver the old Cerberus. "

You may post here or on the sectorgame thread if you have any questions or wish to know more. Alternatively, you can message my profile on either site for details or if you have interest in the project.

I agree with a lot of stuff that is being discussed here. We all have to deal with this on a regular basis. It's not the easiest thing in the world getting a successful modification going and we all try to do what we can.

Above most aspects of modding, the two things that are probably the most important (at least my view) are how well you're going to execute it and the quality in which you produce it. You could add hundreds and hundreds of mods (If you really could), but in the end, if you don't properly execute your project from the word go and really refine your quality, its not going to take off like you expect.

If you are also going to advertise, I guess my suggestion would be only do so if you know you're going to deliver and you can trust yourself with going that mile to finishing.

I can say that from personal experience myself. I made promises with Cerberus: Emergence (A campaign I was creating), but poor execution at the start and failing to deliver did take a toll. Working for the Ancient-Shivan War made me come to these realisations, and of course, shaped me up to being better than that.

If we as modders could conquer these challenges and fears we face, and really refine our modding, then the possibilities would be endless.

No errors there. And yes, it's a Warlock Carrier from Inferno: Release 1.

Reason it looks wierd is the surfacing and shapes that form it. Most textures, even textures from the MediaVPS, will look overstretched at some point. It can't be helped, for you can't really push textures higher than 512x512 unless you want to stress out your performance. It's a good model, but someone should really HTL it.

I must say though, that nebula seems to fit in well with the starfield, and that planet looks utterly amazing.

Thank you for the welcome. It's good being able to mix in with another side of the FS modding community.

I do like the idea of the multi-choice beginning. Of course, it would mean creating multiple campaigns or lots of missions that meet up at some stage for a single campaign. There's lots of possibilities to go around.

I can easily see multiple challenges for any reconstruction era fan. There's several to conquer and solve. All of them are pretty big, as I'm sure you can imagine.

The main one though is what are these factions really like? The names should give hints, but then again, they could be the opposite to what they sound like. EG. The Regulus Syndicate sounds like a roguish mob, but no way to be sure. This is where a lot of imagination is warranted. We do know that some time after the Great War, peaceful existence was restored and the factions eventually becoming merged into the GTVA, but not much else. (Just checking, the alliance was formed in 2345. Gah, I'll have to change the year in my mod.)

I think another main challenge is creating conflicts that have valid reasons or make sense. Apart from territory, I don't really see what they could fight for. But then again, there may be a many great reasons why they might clash with one another. Out of the four, I believe the Regulus Syndicate and the Adhara Coalition are the most likely to compete and have some sort of bloodstained history.

My reasons being, they are two systems apart and positioned on either ends of vital trading systems. You'd think things would be highly tense there, despite the fact that things should be relatively peaceful. I would think things would be in favour of the Adhara Coalition however. Namely for the systems they could control, unless the Syndicate controlled all the north-western systems, but unlikely if the Antares Federation ever wanted to invade Sirius and threaten Regulus itself. The Syndicate would probably only have Polaris as a sytem for keeps where as the Coalition would have Mirfak, Epsilon Pegasi and Procyon A.

Back to solving the challenges in my mod. "Scoots to the private laboratory"

Edit: Just out of curiosity, would it be viable for someone to develop a working prototype of the Prometheus-R cannon before GTVA engineers got to the idea after the formation in 2345? I find it hard to see how any Terran factions would be able to use the original Promtheus after the Great War. As stated in the FS2 Prometheus-R's tech descriptions, all supplies of Argon (needed to work the firing mechanisms of the cannon) were diminished. Unless a solution was made, everyone would be running around purely with Avengers and Banshees, unless they got hold of any secret GTI-tech of course.

As it does happen, I do have a modification in mind for this era in the works. I'm kinda going independant on it at the moment, but that could change.

There isn't a current name or a plot of a kind, but I have done some work on the main stuff already. Mainly, I just have some weapons and ships. Not much, but hey, it is a start.

Originally, I planned on putting the story ten years after the Great War and from the prespective of a pilot in Lamaris. That's where my imagination kinda stops at the moment. Seeing as Luyten 726-8 is next door, I could move it there and maybe develop something that the Luyten New Alliance must face.

If anyone wants to suggest something, that'd be great. Otherwise, I'm not sure what direction I'm gonna take it, and I'd really like to make something in this era.
