Well the Adm. Matthew Papa has set up a Freespace 2 modding section.To Show off your models and Idea's. Don't worry, we won't flame you :D .But, any questions about modding, feel free to post e'm.

Oh! Oh! I have an idea for a ship!

GTJ WarLord: Doesn't use Plasma Cannons, just Beams, torpedoes and flak. One huge mother, too, 10KM from Bow to Stern, 15 Anti Fighter Beams, 7 converted Mjolnir (Sp?) beams in front, 2 on each side, and 3 in the back. !256! Long Range Flak cannons in total scattered around the ship, more concetrated near subsystems, especially around the engines. I'll get a concept up soon, but it's gonna be MS Paint, so you may need to prepare for uglyness... *shudders*

Hmmm, only you are gonna know what it looks like with a pic like that. So, get the modeling tools and make it.

you know, i have like a TON of new ship ideas, mostly some ive seen in movies/tv shows, but some are my own ideas, now i have no idea how to make them nor do i want to seeing as i am still trying to master fred2, only made about 35 missions so far. so anyone wanna hear my ideas? its not like im selling them


whoa, just saw how OLD the last post is, wonder if anyone will read this in the next thousand years

This section tends to be read but not often posted in.

35 missions is a lot though. I certainly wouldn't mind hearing a little bit about your campaign. Don't spoil it too much. Most people tend to get so excited about their ideas they give everything away. :D

well see haveing never played fs2 online untill last night i only played lan games with my fiancee, so i mainly the missions for her, they involve a lot of fighting and protecting of critical ships, like one mission i made, my favorite, an orion class ship has to be escorted thru the asteroid ring around a planet into an unknown jump node which turns out to be a shivan jump node to thier home system, like i said, lots of fighting and they are near impossible to complete, well at least for her they were. not quite a master at fred 2, but im getting there

Ah. They're all multiplayer?

Stick them up. New multiplayer missions aren't very common so I'm sure you'll be able to find people to playtest (especially if these are for retail rather than just FS2_Open).

well i honestly dont think they are that good, i mean yeah i could put up the one i just mentioned, yes they are multiplayer, but like i said i dont think they are any good, i guess thats because im the creator and a perfectionist, tell you what, you wanna play some of my freespace missions? let me know we'll get together and play, unfortunatly they are only 2 player and for testing pourposes alpha 1 and beta 1 are invincible and the other player ship is beta 1. wanna get together and play them? let me know

::slamms head on desk repeatedly:: im such an idiot, after modifying freespace2 to work with fs2open, i remember i reinstalled fs2 therefor deleting all of my missions i have created, the only one i have is the one i just described, well, looks like ill have to start from scratch again



edit: more bad news, i just tested the mission, and for some odd reason the damn asteroids i put in there wont show up in game, ::sighs:: im depressed now, im gonna go hunt shivans for a while

Do you have JPG and TGA textures switched on? I vaguely remember that being the cause of disappearing asteroids in the past?

Shouldn't do. FS2_Open is meant to be backwards compatible (mostly).

well like i said earlier most all of my missions are now gone :( besides, UV6 (the one referred to above) was one of my first and well lets just say stupider (if there is such a word) missions ive created, no big deal, they are all up here ::tapps head:: give me about a month of hardcore fred2ing and ill have them all back

I'm going to post some idea's I'm working with to add into the ArchAngel demo this weekend. The BtRL guys have done such a magnificent job with all things canon I wanted to do some non-canon items so I could enjoy a little creative license.
I have a few models I have been working with following the logic below.

Mainly I'll be fishing for feedback and acceptability with additions to a 3rd party mod in BtRL. If nothing else add some parody. There is a huge gap not really specified in the nBSG history and ships between the Cylon War and the (40 year later) attack.
I wanted to try and capitalize on the ships developed, the production facilities, covert operations and their facility locations, the in fighting between colonies and the development of Stealth ships evolving up to the Stealth Star. All due to attempts for the Colonies to try and maintain peace and possibly the risks they ran into simply trying to patrol or govern their regions of space.
There are huge gaps as well in the technologies attained to bring about the sentient Cylon species, defense systems evolutions.
Who created the first Cylon Base ship? the Colonials or the first creation of the rebelling Cylons etc..
It's a huge tasty region of fiction to play with.
The BtRL development really added a great environment to peak my curiosity and enjoyment as well.
