Title: Introduce Yourself (Newcomers)
Post by: Star Dragon on November 21, 2004, 08:45:40 PM
You came, you saw, you registered, now tell us about yourself! Don't just say hi and lurk.... What makes you stand out from the crowd? (too bad I didn't think of this earlier)...

Well, I'm Axem. I make missions, tables, and graphics. I also lurk a ton :p. People say I'm crazy, but the voices in my head tell me not to believe them. :nervous:

Post by: DaBrain on November 21, 2004, 11:22:37 PM
Hello, as you might have guessed by the name to the left, I'm DaBrain.  :naughty:

I'm from germany, so I guess I'm evil and stuff.  :naughty:

My speciality  is 2d. I work on textures, effects, animations, interface and what's left in the 2d sector. Sometimes I'm forced to work with 3d models. Although I'm a noob when it comes to 3d models, I got used to work with skyboxes and some 3d effects.

I'm special because I'm.... uhmmm.... well... I'm extraordinary lazy. :)

BTW I'm the head leader of the Starfox mod (kinda). So if you are a modder and want to join, contact me. :)
Title: Introduce Yourself (Newcomers)
Post by: DZComposer on November 22, 2004, 04:05:50 AM
I am DZ, and I compose music incase you didn't get that from my name ;) .

I joined because I am a composer for the Shadows of Lyat mod.

I am a native Texan, but I'd rather listen to Vivaldi than Garth Brooks.

I specialize in Orchestral music. I hone my orchestration skills on music from the Nintendo game series, Star Fox, and when I saw the oportunity to compose for a Star Fox mod, I jumped at it.

Of course I do original work too. My music is available on both my site (http://www.classicalhorn.com) and (but a limited number of works) on http://www.vgmix.com. You can also hear (a) snippet(s) of my SoL score in the SoL forum.

And I'm special because I am a master of making typos@

I am ShadowWolf.  lead fredder and POF developer for MT, and as of late I am working in my own story, Origins.  I am currently hard at work on both mods.  Come visit us in the Origins Forum (shameless pimping).  lol

Hi, I'm AG, almost a professional lurker, having lurked more forums than I can remember. My interests are spaceflight, computers, and martial arts in no particular order. I am a fledgling programmer, with several private projects currently in some sort of progress.

I'm new to the FS2 community, so please, be gentle on me. :D

I suppose DK is much faster to type, I work on MT with ShadowWolf and I'm starting with him on Origins.  I mainly do design document conversion/creation and testing, also a little FREDing from time to time.

Welcome aboard Burrofootball40! I am glad to have a fellow footballplayer aboard! I play defensive end for the Spartans. We almost got into the second round of the playoffs this year....

Who brought you to this site? You mentioned something about spacebattles in your other post, could I have a link?

It's http://www.spacebattles.com. Basically a big thing of scifi debates. And thanks.

I'm a female-type unit, awed by all that goes on in the Origins corner of the FS universe.  Can I go back into lurk mode now?   ;)
Title: Introduce Yourself (Newcomers)
Post by: karajorma on December 13, 2004, 09:29:20 PM
Nope. As a female member you must be pawed and fawned over the adolesent males who visit all gaming forums.  ;)

Then they will fight over you followed by wondering why you left.

I have forseen it :D

Anyway I managed to miss this thread when I first turned up so I suppose I should say Hi myself. :)

I'm Karajorma. I've been playing FS2 for about 4 years now. I'm 29 and I'm currently learning C++ so I can help out the SCP guys. When it comes to modding I'm somewhat of a generalist in that I can do most stuff (slowly and not too brilliantly) except when it comes to FREDding (which if motivated I can do quickly and pretty well).
Title: Introduce Yourself (Newcomers)
Post by: Cobra on December 15, 2004, 12:51:52 AM
Hey, hey, hey! 'Tis me, Cobra, new face in GWF! I've been playing FS2 for about as long as Karajorma, don't know ANYTHING about C++ ( :biggrin1: ) and since only last year got into MODing. Started with Independence War 2 and worked my way up. I'm an admin at hades-combine (if you wanna visit its here: http://www.hades-combine.com), so I actually get to give mods. I'm also getting a forum for Pathways (my campaign) so if you wanna sign up, go to my thread there once it's set up.

Hello !

This is me, Skippy, some of you know me from HLP, where I work on MT with Sapphire, ShadowWolf, Gloriano (and the others too, but I'm too lazy to continue the list :p)

I started playing FS about 4 years ago, and loved it :p later I bought FS2, blablabla...

I also (try to) maintain the FS/FS2 Campaigns List (http://fs2.kissifrot.com/)

Mmh, if you need other informations ask me :p

Ooh, Noob title, cool, that's the first time I get one

Hey.

I'm singh, some of you may already know me from over HLP.

I FRED, do .tbls, FRED some more, can make extremely horrid and totally disgusting textures, pathetically try to unwrap models but get defeated, did i say FRED?, write fiction/sci-fi and can make comics from FS2 screenshots :D

I'm part of Mindgames as well as the Freespace Upgrade Projects, but do work on my own projects including the recently released Desperation series :D

Bonjour, Monsieur Skippy.  Comment talez-vous?

Anyway, I'm Moonsword.  I've been registered here for a little while but I didn't start posting until recently.  I do some FREDing, a bit of creative table hacking, interface compilation (please don't ask), and a lot of RPGing.  You guys may have run accross me at HLP, SG, or the WC CIC, or maybe even the SpaceEmpires.net forums.

I work for the 158th Squadron, Twisted Infinities, and Wing Commander Saga as a FREDer and I've done voice acting for Saga and a bit of it for the 158th.

Call me Primus, the NovaKrazy. Don't rememeber how I got here, but I bet it had something to do with the ISOs. Finally I have full FreeSpace 2 (big thanks).
I know how to lurk.. But I also can post now and then  :biggrin1:
I have few campaign ideas.. I'm learning to FRED.. And I've started to play with trueCrap.. trueSpace, which is agony...
I can say one thing.. GW is a great forum. :)

Welcome aboard Primus.  While you are here we ask that you obey a few simple rules.

1.  do not write on the wall.

2.  do not piss on the floor.

3.  Do not taunt Fred.

4.  Do not place Fred Missions near power lines as Fred sees this as a taunt.

5.  Should Fred go on a maniacal rampage through the forums, please call the SCP guys at once, do not attempt to aprhend Fred as Axem probably put it on Beam Free All, and Fred has already changed your IFF to Hostile.

6.  Always Duck.

7.  No Docking with my lady....MatthewPapa keeps trying.

ok on a serious note, you said that you have some campaign ideas.  Might i ask you to take a look in the Mercenaries Forum?  Currently we are looking for a few more Mini Campaigns, as in 3-5 missions.  Not fredded, just the stories.  If you are interested in donating a storyline or two, just PM me, or contact me through one of the other means listed in my profile.

once again.......

8. Do not feed the Axem

9. Do not whack the Cobra

10. Do Not start a Thread called SPAM!

11.Do not ask for the Flamethrowers, cause no one knows where they are

12. Do Not question my sanity

13. Do not ask for these rules again.

Otherwise Welcome and have a nice day. :)

HLP has not been conquered by an0n. It was all a cruel, malicious joke. ;)

Anyways, I'm Siamese. Blitzerland's evil alter-ego.

*Notables*

>C++ Programmer. Don't mess with da' Visual Studios.
>FREDer. Currently busy, as always, on some foolish project I'll never finish/release.
>I like cats.
>I enjoy making fun of cliched, overused phrases. Ph33r.
>I'm usually a nice guy, and unless you fling a cliche at me, we'll get along fine. Besides, I've got a really bad short-term memory.

And as for my obession with cliches, we have a definite list.

> asshat (currently researching origin)
> n00b (some fat guy in Brazil who mispelled a certain word whilst describing his 2nd cousin)

Head up arse, eh? I expect that would require a certain amount of flexibilty.

Anyways, we (Siamese Coalition of Cliche-dissing Jerks) are currently researching the origin, not the definition. ;)

Post by: TopAce on April 02, 2005, 09:50:38 PM
Hi

I am Attila 'TopAce' Hartai from Budapest, Hungary.
I have been modding FreeSpace for two or three years(even more if you consider FREDing as Modding). I first appeared at HLP, in November, 2002 and I have been a frequent poster ever since, striving for reaching the 7.0 post per day in average, which is basically hard work, not to mention the malicious effect of the April Fool's joke.

I find myself a professional FREDer and a picky tester. My modelling skills are low, certainly because I haven't practised this skill too much.

This is not a place to 'pimp', but I feel it is worth mentioning that I released two campaigns so far, and is still working on the third one.

There is just one Science Fiction universe I love, apart from FreeSpace: Star Wars. Those who know me from HLP certainly knows this by now. I am looking forward to Episode III very much. I am among the very few people who find both Episode I and II good, which is pretty rare, in my experience.
Also, I had some debates about why I call Double-bladed lightsabers only as Sith Lightsabers. These discussions are very memorable for me, even though I do not remember any exact words I, or anyone else wrote.

As for my Real Life, I am a Hungarian student with a twelve year-long English learning experience(I still suck at it). I take the Final Exam this year, in two months' time. I also learn the Italian language, which is a difficult language compared to English.

That's enough for now. Thanks for reading.

The GWBB is a place where dreams of Starship flying Foxs, Human killing Robots, and enough Gatling guns to turn your target into scrap come true. To tell it all would take so long, but to get to the point, here you are safe. The Flamethrowers are locked under your seats, and if you happen to break them lose, you will find there is no fuel in them. There is no hyper inteligent shade of blue and head eating is illegal. Enjoy your stay at Game Warden, and one last tip, Don't Feed the Axem.

Oh well, Guess I'm a little late but I'll introduce myself...  I'm a freespace 2 pilot with about 2 years of flying experience, I can'ttake it if I lose (might start whining about lag 'n stuff) you can mostly find me (trying to) playing online. On HLP my name is Wolfdog. (yea, well, that's a really old name, I registered like 2 months after i got dsl, and later I found out i can't change my username so...)

I don't have any talents, (can't fred, can't model, not good at table editing) but I kinda understand how freespace works and i'll try to help-out anyone with multi or singleplayer problems....  that's pretty much it.

Nonsense, everybody can do something, there is something your good at. You just gotta find it  Have you tryed UV Mapping or just making simple textures?
Title: Introduce Yourself (Newcomers)
Post by: Evophyrexy on June 26, 2005, 07:08:19 PM
Guess I wasn't really clear... it's not really that I can't do some of those things, it's more like.. well...  I simply don't have the creativity, if someone would give me a paper with an exact mission scenario, I could FRED it, most likely, UV mapping i never tried, don't have any idea what it is.. so maybe i'm good at it. texturing same problem as fredding. Coding, don't know, but basicly my brain crashes as soon as i have to do anything with variables, lots of numbers, formulas, etc, etc. (maths in short) and I beleive Coding quite sometimes involves that. Modelling: same problem as fredding, simply no creativity....

Thing i might be able to do... testing, limited hosting, (I have 200MB webspace with a bandwith limit of 5GB)  I know my way with webserver software and ftp servers, can do a limited amount of troubleshooting, (with fs2, windows, or hardware problems) and I'm good at spamming... (what?)

Some old veteran PXO players can remember me. I'm very ambiciuos and very want-to-do-anything-for-FS guy! ;) I look for ppl to play in MP everyday. Holy crap! I never introduced myself!

Hello, I'm Nuclear. In my 400+ post life on this board, I have probably broken any number of Shadow/Weather's 14 rules, including whacking Cobra, writing on the walls (but only in the Hosted hallways), and the burn marks all across me are evident that I have taunted FRED at more than one point (If you don't believe me, play Mission 8 of Rogue Intentions Episode I [/shamless p1mp]).

Well, that was fun. :nervous:

So noted! (Inform our people...)

Welcome to Game Warden, Turn in your flame throwers for Solar Powered Assualt Rifles. In cases of emergency, break the glass (just watch out for shards) and someone will come around. Eventually...

If the crap totally hits the fan, you're on your own unfortuantely. Just send Matt a PM (on here or if you need to HLP) and he'll get things sorted out when time allows.

If you see a Shivan with no friendly IFF transponder, open fire (Carl doesn't go aggro on people  Usually :D)

Stay on Raa (or Taristin's good side) and do NOT mention his "questionable avatars". It simply annoys him...

[If anyone can add to this or thinks of a re-write let me know, was kinda spontaneous and was going for a humorious parody of HLP] - will take this part out later once a FINAL version is decided upon...

Geez... registered many moons ago and never got around to looking here.

Apologies! Next ... the condensed-but-still-dull version ;)

36, half-Japanese, half-Italian, first-gen Canadian. Grew up in Vancouver, did uni at McGill in Montreal, worked in Japan for 2 years, then did another degree in London and worked for 5 years, then back to Vancouver, then Naples, London for another year, and now (hopefully permanently??) in Toronto.

Heard about FS2 while Googling for meshes of the new Galactica. I had this idle thought that playing around with virtual Lego-like 3d toys on screen would be fun (as normally, I suck at videogames). With work being what it is, I don't get much time to play the game as much as I'd like. And of course I've compounded matters by preferring to scratch my head on the Linux version as opposed to just playing the fracking thing on XP. I do love this game, though -- it just feels very much ... right.

I'm often over at SCP and the BSG forum, and I lurk -- when it's up? -- a bit over at HLP. I'm hoping to get a HOWTO together for people wanting to experiment with Linux builds of FS2 Open and I'd encourage anyone willing to share their information, suggestions (other forums?) and tips to send me a PM. I'd also like to ask karajorma for his thoughts on this as well as I'd like to collaborate if possible.

Uh, what else ... Still listen to Sasha & Digweed, even though apparently they're no longer the in thing; fiddle around with Debian (8 years now?); read non-fiction infrequently but not as much as I like; still don't own a car; am utterly obsessed by sudoku; and I believe 'Goodbye Sadness' by Astrud Gilberto is simply the best goddamn tune ever.

Oh yeah, I'm from Vancouver, so I like to smoke dope. A lot.

Greetings guys - I'm totaly new to this forum, and fs2 multi. I'm from Poland, and I eat kielbasa mostly. Enough about me.

Now, can somebody give me a hint when or if the server will be online. I know i sound like impatient little bastard, but more than a week ago, somebody posted that it'll be online soon. Please tell me that it actually will be.

The booklet is what we call the paper in the front part of your CD's jewel box (ie the cover)...  Had to help do 5k THURDSAY (Full Collapse - speial edition) disks. I absolutely HATE them (not that I ever once listened to them, their 4 page fold out booklets love to screw up in my machine). :)

11 days off! I am home... "passes out*

Oh, I'm glad to hear our project also lured (:nervous: ) some people over here. ;)
Everybody was so excited about the BSG project, that the SoL team felt a bit underrated in this aspect.

I'm also waiting for the Revolution, but I won't buy it before I get enough time to play with it... probably.

I hope they're working on a Starfox game too. Hopefully with a lot Arwing action. If not all-Arwing mission, then at least mostly Arwing missions. ;)

Hi everyone. I'm a 39 year old retired marine pilot who flew Wart Hogs in first Iraq war back in early 92. Even then "Warts" where old vietnam ground support aircraft that can take a beating (much like the old Hercules in FS2). Ugliest most reliable combat aircraft out there for ground support. I miss the smell of jet fuel in the morning and strapping on eight tons of war machine. Starting my second career,  so far so good, just puttin on a few pounds as I sit alot now. Still a mean 225 lbs and at 6'2" thats not bad, just a lil pissed about going up a waist size is all.
FS 2 is an awesome space sim, I've had the game for over four years and still play the single campaighns a few times a year. Got me a ST290 pro joystick, and it's copasetic.
Guess I aint as hip as the kiddies out there but i been around puters since the old IBM xt & IBM at. Been a AMD lover since the 90's and have smoke tested more n a few components in my time (ever set a mb on fire? I have lol)
First PC for me was a ole DX 66 486, man that takes me back....

Hey folks.

Name's Dajmin, I'm Scottish but live in London.
Originally just passed through these forums while attempting to set up FS2 for online play after being a fan for years, but decided since it doesn't seem to be working that I might as well say hello as well :)

I'm a semi-professional singer/songwriter but I game in my spare time.  Big fan of anything online, sci-fi to fantasy.  Right now I'm playing CS:S and The Movies.  Chances are if you've seen my name in an online game, it was me.

Now all I need is the FS2netD server to come back up (man I hope it's down or my instruction following was really off!) so I can embarrass myself in front of everyone.

The GWBB is a place where dreams of Starship flying Foxs, Human killing Robots, and enough Gatling guns to make you trigger happy.

With the formal greeting out of the way, now for the personal intro.

That was a quick response!  I didn't think that after all this time the FS2 community would still be buzzing as much.  But I guess that's because the game is so good even after these years.

I write in a kind of rock / R 'n' B hybrid style, trying to cover the pop angle as well as my own influences.
For copyright reasons I don't have any downloadable original tracks anymore ( :( ) but there are probably still some acoustic cover songs kicking around somewhere :)

And if you're asking in relation to working on mods, I have a couple of example tracks available at my website - http://dajmin.atspace.com - but the site is a 4MB Flash job so might take a few mins to load (no idea why the loading bar didn't work).

Hello All,

I am a newcomer here and to Space sims but hope to catch up.
I have been studying and playing CGames for some years now, and
just now have begun to collect some of the excellent space sims,
including FS1 and FS2......at least I hope to as soon as I assemble
the files to operate FS2 fully....we will see. I am very impressed with
the community here and elsewere (HardLight) and hope to participate
herein once I get some flight time, or should that be Space Time...

I am an artist by profession for some 35 years, (http://www.christophergerlach.com) and love visuals, and graphics, and
am interested to see if my own art might work in CG formats, we will
see about that, I live in the US in the mts of colorado, and hope
to visit here again and often. Greetings and salutations to all.

after a reasonable training period, I hope to be at the helm of
some sort of craft and underway. Thanks again for this great
site and the excellent community in support of FS....

Many Thanks.:)

Just registered yesterday and stil ltrying to figure all this out.
I am a Battlestar Galactica fan and followed a white rabbit to this particular warren as there seemed to be a BSG mod in the works based on the new show and using Freespace as it's base.
Thing is, I have never played Freespace.

Anyone care to fill me in on the history so I can get hooked too???

I am Irish, living in Ireland. Former animation character designer/storyboarder for Fred Wolf Films, Dublin. But that was a long time ago.
Like computer games, doesn't matter what genre.
Married, have a dog ( pommerian) and that's it really.

Freespace history?

You could start by checking the wikis Freespace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freespace) entry and perhaps more importantly the Karajorma's Freespace FAQ (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/karajorma/FAQ/intro.html).

Also drop by at Hard Light Productions (http://www.hard-light.net/), which seems to be the current hub of the FS community when online...

Heya folks,

Mauri "Darkblade" Majanoja here from HLP. Mission designer & some sort of voice editor and actor for The Babylon Project, recently been quite inactive.. Thank you Blizzard for making World of Warcraft and giving me an annoying headache. Also in the past I've been part of James Moores' Operation Avatar, which had some fabulous missions written by the author of "Leader of the Shivans". If you want a good read, then here is the link:

http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/lfts/

Also I have done numerous voice acting projects. I've acted Omega 2 on B5: IFH, Agent Black on JA: Team Corellia, Pvt. McMuffin on Solsar Chronicles and a lot of different other characters. So if you need a voice actor and do not mind a small Finnish accent, then by all means, contact me. ;)

Oh frak! I forgot to introduce myself. Time to correct that:

Good day, ladies, gents and whatever you are.

My name is Mika "Zaarin" Saarinen and my ways you'll learn or have learned allready. I'm finnish maniac who steps everybodys toes by on purpose or just accidentally by being stupid. You will suffer my bad jokes and self-irony for sure.

I love good scifi in any form and good games are also close to my hearth and one of my hobbies is guns...technically and pratically. I also enjoy muscle cars and I own 16 year old big barge Ford Scorpio with small two liter engine, at least she's rearwheeldrive and heavy so she's good for ramming if needed.

For not sounding too frightening, I am also man with symphaty, loyalty, caring and all that what Chinese Horoscope Dog says about me. PC-assembler/fixer is my primary job, alltought I'm un-employd at the moment and my real education is automationassembler, if anyone cares.

Reason for my being here is voice acting: the only area of mod/game making where I might have some use and Battlestar Galactica: I'm got hooked right through my ribs from the wery first episode.

Carry on.

Alright, because I’m just THAT bored.

Zaarin. Sorry to hear about your unemployment. My job is basically to be an encyclopedia on Federal  Stafford Loans, so if you have any questions, especially in your situation, feel free to ask.

Anyway, I am Zipperblues… a name I ripped from the Smashing Pumpkins song 1979. Though my real name is even more outlandish: Aragorn. I shit you not. My father was a bit of a fanatic, and smoking a lot of pot at the time.

As for my personality… em… not exactly sure how to go about it. I’m a dumb elitist snob, but I make an extreme effort to keep myself in check. According to my Chinese horoscope, I am a “Metal Cock.” Again, not kidding you.

Funny enough, for the most part, I’m really not into science fiction, for pretty much all the reasons that made Ron Moore remake BSG. I love cyber punk, and love William Gibson (neuromancer, johnny mnemonic). I’m pretty much void any form of talent, but I love videogames, and am waiting for Oblivion as well as the recently previewed “bioshock.”

My reason for being here is simply because I heard of the BSG Mod, and I was hoping to find a place to chat about my favorite show in the whole.wide.world. I feel like I can analyze the characters for hours… and in fact did several times. So hi!

Post by: Joona on March 02, 2006, 12:30:43 PM
Hi guys and gals,

They use to insult me by calling me Joona Vainio. I haven't used a nick on net forums for ages, as I prefer to take responsibility for everything I say, be it good or bad. This habit comes from experience on a Finnish game magazine's website, where using your own name is mandatory. Tends to keep the worst frakkin' around in control.

I came here 'cos I am a BSG fan and heard about the voice acting. Haven't submitted mine yet, because I got stuck chatting in Starbuck's and overall I am damn lazy, anyway.

No, not really. I am the AD of Metsälehti, a Finnish magazine about forestry. I have no experience and little interest in forestry, though. I just take care that the magazine looks good and gets to print in time. And often that means staying overtime even to the wee hours to keep the deadline. Most of my work is layout design, but every now and then I get to make an illustration or two.

For ten years I've also written reviews for a Finnish computer and video game magazine as a side job for fun and some minor cash. I am taking a vacation from that for now, as any extra energy after my day job goes to going through a divorce that has gotten real messy. Sometimes when I am on the verge of nervous breakdown, you can see me bawling about it in Starbuck's. Sorry 'bout that.

From my earlier marriage I have a 14 year old daughter, who's really sweet and of course the most important thing in my life.

As the Finnish saying goes, I curse and smoke cigarettes. Sometimes my language might get downright dirty, especially when provoked to flirt with pretty girls and women. Or even if not provoked. That should not be mistaken for me being a rude person, however. I care a lot despite my flippancy, and people are important to me. Sometimes too much.

I am also fiercely loyal and very straightforward in what I say. Again, sometimes too much. And I have a hair-trigger temper but I also calm down quickly. Because of that loyalty, nothing gets me as enraged and miserable as betraying that loyalty. That's why am a bit off my rocker right now.

But wounds will heal with time.

See you online,

Joona

HI! I am Zangarath Zenodex from the Descent community! I have experience with FS 1 and 2, and a couple months ago joined HLP, registered here awhile ago, and hadn't taken the time to introduce myself until now.

Now now, don't discriminate. I have unique interests and that includes both games from the remnants of the late Parallax Software. They are the most original and innovative games available regardless of age.

I am from the greater St. Louis area in the United States of America. I am energetic, enthusiastic, and overall fun to be with.

I am not much of a coder or artist, but I can beta test to find bugs and brainstorm ideas for improvements to the game. I am willing to learn how to model, but all I need is a legal copy of starting software and basic assignments to get me going. I am willing and ready to learn.

Hi, I'm Mav. :)
Have a FS-mod in the works since ~ mid 2001 though not progressing alot with it (current stats: 1 completed model, ~3 betas and ~7 alphas :sigh: ) . Had a little go with nearly every part of FS-modding except voice-acting and coding (the latter one I'd also be intereted in, but well... :sigh: ) .
Didn't get to much with any of it (maybe except tbl-ing and icon-making) because of being interested in many other things as well and studying... :(
Ex-Member of the WCSaga team... made a few icons and fixed a few UV-maps as well as made a few rudimentary effects and 1,5 capship-shieldmeshes (yes, they ARE possible, though newer SCP builds don't seem to like them as much :( ) .
I also lurk a bit here and there (read: HLP), but like forums too much (i.e. get sucked in for several hours once I enter) to be there often. :(

So... "friendly" greetings from the Shivan Collective ;) :devel:

Hi gamers. I'm Neosurrealist writer SinKing and I write Filmscripts for Imagefilms (advertisment on a bigger scale). I am hugely interested in writing a wicked script for a mod someday and I'm always amazed at the output of modders like the bsg team. Can't say I have any particular interests except writing and painting and - of course - gaming. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you in space soon and serving you a dose of my lethal weaponry. Capital ships really aint my thing - you never find a parking lot!

Hi guys.

I'm Hammerit. I hope you don't mind me not telling you my real name but it's much better for me this way.

I'm head of the AtW Studios, a developing game developement studio specialized on innovative game design.

To me Freespace is the best line based space shooter ever and playing it is the best source of inspiration one can get. Additionally to Freespace I play other representatives of the genre too such as Freelancer, X² and Darkstar: One, but although Freespace 2 is not the youngest I think it still is the best.

Welcome to you newest members....

Whenever people say project (single) we all assume it's a BSG  reference lol! (Since it's become our flagship I guess, it certainly is the most visually appealing and widely known mod for FS2 on the net in record time).

Don't forget there are other projects here you might like as well. :biggrin1:

Enjoy your stay, and watch out for random Shivans (not all of them can be bribed like Carl).

Hey. I'm jstroot1 and I am simply a huge fan of both BSG and FS2.

I just want to help in any way possible (as well as enjoy some nice gaming).

I'm in my last year of Computer Engineering at the University of Arizona. I do not have much 'real' programming experience, but I'd like to help where I can.

Hope all is well with you.

Yeah, if the name doesn't tell you enough, then I'm a fan of Star Fox, and came here mostly because I'm interested in the FS2 MOD Shadows of Lylat (DZ mentioned it on another forum).
I also hope that I'm not the only one here from Australia. Maybe now that I've introduced myself, I will actually post something after 3 months of being registered.

My other hobby is music: I hear METAL. My favorite bands are Manowar, HammerFall, Lordi and J.B.O. - mybe someone knows a few of this bands :biggrin1:

My third hobby is StarFox: I've played all offcial StarFox games (but I own only the SNES game^^).

So, i think thats enough.

enjoy your stay,

The GWBB is a place where dreams of Starship flying Foxs, Human killing Robots, and enough Gatling guns to turn your target into scrap come true. To tell it all would take so long, but to get to the point, here you are safe. The Flamethrowers are locked under your seats, and if you happen to break them lose, you will find there is no fuel in them. WARNING: there are shivans in the airducts!! There is no hyper inteligent shade of blue and head eating is illegal. Enjoy your stay at Game Warden, and one last tip, Don't Feed the Axem.

Hi I'm the The_Bomb (Mike), I'm really in to music especially my own. I have 1 album (with a record label? No), and another one in the works. I listen to mostly metal and rock. But I listen to some punk and 3 rap groups. I love chillin' with my friends cause thier cool.

I'm catholic but I do have disbeliefs about my religion and God. I love playing FPS games and some RPG's. I'm mostly in to games made by Valve like Day of Defeat, Counter-Strike, and Half-Life.

Uhmmm... I really like posting on forums especially mine (not about me, its a game I made). I like to draw even though I suck at it. I love acting and want to be an actor. TV? Yeah I like it. I watch quite a bit of shows. My favourite types are comedy like South Park, In Living Colour, Beavis & Butthead, etc. I also like some drama or action like Mantracker.

So yeah, if you want to know more about me check out my profile or ask me or something cause' I'm up for telling people about me... oh by the way if you didnt already know I'm a guy (I might seem gay but I have a girlfriend and have had her for 3 and a half months). So peace.

Hey guys, glad to see there are so many others who love FS2 as much as I do.  My IGN is Phoenix for most games that I play, and I love to play Steam games as well as a lot of other shooters.  When I found out there would be no FS3, I was badly let down.  Too many things unanswered.  I love the Inferno mod though, closest thing to FS3 that Ive found in my opinion, and for those of you who havent tried it, I encourage you to check out Release 1.

Anyway, when Im not at work, I love to hang out with friends or just relax, watch a movie or something.  Im hoping that soon I can start playing FS2 Online, and test my skills against something other than rebel Hercs and the Shivans (it never gets old though).

AFAIK, i posted a santa pic when Nuke was e-drunk and it was removed and i apologised. No messages or e-mails were recieved notifying me of any possible retribution. In short i am shocked and believe it was unfair to do a ban with no prior notification or warning.:shaking:

Especially considering that someone told you that you needed to remove that image or it would get you banned before the admins came along and removed it.

Welcome Capt. Rumbler!  Good news... yes there is such a site!  It's called FS2NetD (http://fs2netd.game-warden.com/).  PXO is actually slated to be back next year.  Until then FS2NetD is the place to go.  MatthewPapa has prepared some handy instructions for how to get started using FS2NetD (http://www.game-warden.com/forum/showthread.php?t=267).  If you run into any bumps along the way, check out the FS2NetD forum (http://www.game-warden.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=42) for common troubleshooting tips or to post a question.

Hi,
My nickname is Psygonis, I'm 18, I'm studying Biology as a 2nd-year student and since I'm french, I do so in Paris.
I came along this forum as I heard about Shadows of Lylat, the fan-made Starfox MOD for FS2.
I hope that it will successfully been led to it's completion.

Concerning me, I'm a drawer of anthropomorphic characters on the net (http://44thwindsword.deviantart.com) and the writer of the story in which they are (in french: http://psygonis.deviantart.com/44WS.zip). It's based on the Starfox universe. I also usually draw various types of ships and weapons.

I think that's all for now... ;)
So have a nice day and ++,
Psygonis.

I'm not very talented, but I have been told to try out the voice acting.  So, once I get a microphone, I get some samples up.

This is number 30 odd of my posts cause this is the first time I've ventured outside the btrl forums!

Hey all, I am Imperator, that means Roman commander...roughly.

I joined these forums after clicking on the link for the btrl site, I found out about btrl totally by accident. I was on the forums for Star Trek: Legacy and I shot a glance at a users signature, there was a link on it and it said something like: "beyond the red line multiplayer test". Scratching my skull I clicked on it, thinking it looked interesting and right there on youtube was a video showing the awesome prowess of Battlestar Galactica: beyond the red line!

Funny what you find on the net innit? I found out about ST:L totally by accident as well. There I was one day on the net as usual....*continues to speak with incoherent mumbling*

Why hello, yes, I'm new here, which is why I'm posting, I've always loved Freespace 1-2 (Never really played one, just Darkness rising, and discovered the disc about 5 months ago and said "Wow, that game owned, let's play it again!) and eventually ended up here. So, hello, I can't wait to play multiplayer so I can get my ass wooped, and eventually learn :)?. I'm having a problem though, I know this isn't really the place to post it, but I can't figure out where, any help would be appreciated (standard noobie string :P) I've registered to the HLPBB, but I never get the activation email, I get every other activation email, so if you have any suggestions of what I should do, please post them. Oh, one more thing, I'm looking for a *sparring* partner in fs2netd, so if anyone would like to accept please contact me, Msn is probably the best way to contact me.

Hi,

As you can tell by the name at left, I'm Cin. I'm an IT major in the US, the lead American Tester for the HL2 Mod Dystopia, as well as a huge space-sim fan.

I found this place because a bunch of the other Dystopia testers are BSG fans and we were talking about how badly a lot of games simulate space combat and one of them directed me to BTRL in order to get my hopes up :biggrin1: I'm actually hear almost entirely for the BSG forums as it's pretty much my favorite show at the moment and I've been dieing to get my hands on a game that can replicate its combat sequences. Thankfully, it looks like my search is over.

Good luck on the development and I hope it's as fantastic as it promises to be.

Welcome aboard!

Just a note, in case you were unaware. SG-1 "Earth's Defense" has been here for almost 2 years. Something to keep in mind cause of the similar name... ;)

As you can see in my section, the banner doesn't just say Robotech, or even FS2, IT says Robotech 2.0 so everyone knows this is a different effort from the original/related mod.

I'd consider something like "Terran Defence" Or "FS2 - Earth's Defence" For titles and Mod banners/sigs. Just a suggestion though.

We've got a small problem - people in poland like name of my project "Earth Defence". The wouldn't like any changes :(

Not really a problem then, just be aware you might need to redirect someone occasionally. Unless JC has any objections ( and I doubt he will), but just wanted to make you aware in case you actually didn't know. ;)

Hi, I'm Juki (utter as "Yuki") I found out about this forum when I heard at first time about mod to my lovely tv show BSG: The Red Line, I'd like to thank developers for their job :). I have a question to all developers, has anyone thought about making mod to FS2 in Starcraft realm? (Or is there a thread to post suggestions?)
Title: Introduce Yourself (Newcomers)
Post by: Star Dragon on January 06, 2007, 09:50:14 AM
That post is covered in a Hard Light Productions thread and should be continued there http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,44117.0.html
or in the FS2 modding section here.

Short version... Yes it's been talked about, but until people with both Skills and the Interest get involved it will remain just talk for yet more years...

Welcome to the board!

If you're here to be a member of the community you're more than welcome to pimp your own stuff. But if your first post is just an advert and you don't post anything else you're just spamming.

He was advertising a C&C mod site from what I could see. Hardly what I'd expect from a spambot. More the sort of thing I'd expect from someone being a bit tactless as a newbie.

So he gets the benefit of the doubt and I simply removed the link in case he is someone who actually wants to be part of the community.

Spam MY wonderful brainchild thread will you? :P

Besides, I am the master of the Shameless pimpage (it's called a sig, you know the image block at the bottom of some people's posts that have words or sites or just a goofy picture displayed...)

I was gonna ask how in the hell you would know if/when someone "just registers AOL after you" as there were probably a few dozen to hundreds that did so, and that is private information.  Or you just express yourself badly...

And just because you "make" ships from related genres means you are an independant modder, not associated with such projects (like my dabbling with TOS BSG, that's RAPTOR's and IP's MOD, NOT MINE)...

SO welcome aboard (you took your time introducing yourself though) :D

(Warning shameless pimpage below)

I've actually been a member here for a while, but have not noticed this thread until now so I figure I might as well introduce myself. :D

I am Dark Hunter, which I know is a very cliche name, but I don't particularly care.

I am a FREDder, though I haven't released anything yet. The first chapter of my campaign will be finished soon.

I hope to soon have the campaign hosted on this site. I thank MatthewPapa for giving me the FTP account, but unfortunately, the friend I had counted on to put the website onto said account doesn't know how to, and neither do I, so I've been somewhat stuck in that department for a while... :(

So, this is me in a nutshell. A very small nutshell. Glad to meet everyone.

Our name is Rossiharu.
No,.i didn't mistype our word.
Because this nickname is represent from both of us,..Rossi (that would be me) and Haru (My friend).
We're both a long fan of Freespace. He own a Freespace 1, and i own Freespace2.

Just about one week ago i just found out about all of this Source Code Project kind of thing! Damn !
I called my friend and asked him, did you still have the Freespace 1 CD? He said yes,..but what for? I told him there is sites for a further development for Freespace from die-hard fan.

Then when he asked me, where your Freespace 2 CD? I told him i still have it, but the 3rd CD is damage.

So,..here we are. Searching for the image for the third CD.
Were not desperate yet looking though.

edit: i have found the 3rd image ! yeah !! happy..happy..happy!

Hello everyone.  I'm an avid BSG (reimagined) fan and i had to change my drawz a few times after i found out this sim existed.  I'd like to say thank you to the makers of BTRL.  I just downloaded the demo, so i'm excited to try it out.  The videos looked absolutely amazing.  This sim seems to be what i've been looking for since i started watching the new BSG.

Hello everyone. My name is Trollax Kinora. I'm an Avid BSG (Reimagined) fan despite the inconsistent airplay it gets in Oz. I was majorly excited to hear about this game, and doubly-impressed to find that it replicates the feel of spaceflight in the show near-perfectly (to my eye at least). Space Sim is my favourite genre, and I'm awaiting the release of the full version with baited breath.

I'd love to help out if I could, but on the other hand I hardly have the time and my experience is limited to graphic design, and video and (some) audio editing. So I'll content myself with being a forum-whore (the world needs more of them anyways).

Since this is the introduction thread :biggrin1:

My name is Dirk and I go by the nick Thunder.
In the flight sim community I'm known as Pacman.

Anyway I gotten here because of my love for the series Battlestar Galactica and looking for anything that has to do with it.

Today I ran into this site which looks really cool, good job all.
The thing that attracts me here is that I'm also involved in a development based out of people that help out merely because of their love for game development. And the hope of one day being able to make their living out of it (at least in our case).

If a customer of a certain genre wishes to have the ultimate quality then these groups that work seperatly of any developer, driven by their own passion, are the gamer's best bet. They are the most motivated, detailed and accurate developers around.

I'll be dropping in here regularly to see how you guy's are doing. You have my full support. Go for it!!

Dirk

Hey, Daniel here. I would stand out because I'm probably the only person to post on this thread who is not a modeler or anything associated with the creation of games. I'm just here for the tech support, sharing of ideas and participation in random conversations.
If i had to choose a portion of game development...I would have to say that the closest thing to me would be a writer. Always having Ideas for plot lines are in and out all the time, if anyone is interested to see what is floating around my brain along with my friends, give me a shout.

So say we all...

Welcome Apollo1,

If you've played FS1 or 2 you might have noticed an exe.icon called FRED in your game directory. If you click on it, it runs the Freespace Mission EDitor (FRED for short).

Using FRED you can create your own missions (such as how some BSG fans here now mess with the Demo).

Does anyone know a good costume website or a store? I've been on the hunt for a flight suit (Galactica- preferably, hate those fraking raptors for some reason). I am willing to pay top $ for one (it better be good quality tho) but not right now because there's a better chance of dust being announced as a world currency (broke as shit). (if you find someone that does this kind of thing, don't get their hopes up) a  website or store location would be great.

I've searched high and low on Google and I can't find a thing.
Help would be greatly appreciated especially since I'm being so picky.

Many thanks and may the gods be with you on your search.

At least I got the impression he was asking if the NEW Kara was male or female cause of the name & avatar pic, (I was curious also - in an older/internet stalker way :P ) but certainly wasn't going to ASK! Cause then the next relevant questions lead to: boyfriend/married/loyal?

:naughty:

Should we send her over to the hlp pic thread? I'm civil until I see some flesh. (on second thought, never mind. She could just post EXTRA MAN as herself) :ugh:

Hi All,

Just finished BTRL Demo and Wing Commander Prologue.  LOVED them both.  Any idea when the full games might be available.  I would love to help out with Beta testing or any other non-coding duties as needed.  This looks like a pretty cool site,  I think I'm going to like it here.

I also like the Legend of Zelda, Mario and Metroid, so I'm a girl gamer :)
I did originally join here on Friday, but since I don't have a computer at home, I have to go to the library, which is closed on weekends.
And I'm also from Scotland.

They are with a fan built upgrade.
You can go to http://www.hard-light.net/forums/ to look around, and if you get a computer, download it for free with the SCP.
The SCP is the upgrade to the game.
It features upgraded graphics, its fun and is good all around.

Hi folks.  About a month ago I started watching the new BSG series.  That got me thinking about the good old days of playing Wing Commander.  That got me poking around on the net and much to my pleasant surprise, I came across all these Freespace based games.  I downloaded the WC Saga game and quickly discovered that my space combat skills need a little refreshing.  I have been trying to get the BSG game, but I am running into some problems with the download (I'll post about that elsewhere), and that led me to this forum.  Yay!

When I am not wasting my life away behind a computer I am doing a masters degree in archaeology.  I also play in a couple of bands and have a bit of a nearly all consuming obsession with motorcycle and motorcycle racing.

Anyway...hi!

Hey out there!!!
So it seems I'm a little late to this here party... and what an awesome one it is, I might add.  Man... I gotta start by relaying the magic of ebay... now, I don't remember what made me think of Freespace and Freespace 2 a couple of weeks ago, but when I did, I jumped on ebay and now I've got copies of both games... naturally I've been blowing Shivans back to hell ever since!  Originally, I played through these games back in '99... and then I kinda lost them...  but now I'm back!  I didn't even know about the SCP until the other day, so my elation has multiplied a hundredfold!!!!  I can't wait to start these new-to-me campaigns and I just want to thank everyone in advance who've worked so hard to enhance the gameplay of FS2

Yup.  Me, too.  New here, and harbor a heavy "Hard" SF addiction (for which I get regular booster shots at Barnes & Noble -- written SF).  But then, I'm also seriously into building PC systems for the pleasure of doing it.

I wrote the long message to the hosted forum about the Starlancer total conversion of Freespace, and set it for a subscription notice.  It's the "Alive and Well" thread:

According to the eMail, the message was:

Was the reply deleted at some later point?

Thanks.

Hey Im new. I found out about this from gametrailers.com. Starfox is one of my fav game series and I was just wondering is there any kinda of play testing they we can do. Cause I looked into the other stuff they need help for which is textures and what not and I don't have a grasp on any of that kinda of stuff and I was excited for about 2 mins until I opened the voice acting thread to see that it was finished. Anyone know if they randomly still need help for that. I am experienced in voice/stage/camera acting and have taken 4 years of drama through out school and finished grade 12 final Drama 30. So if there any play testing or voice acting that might need doing I am open for it or if someone knows where I should go to talk to someone about this a link would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading
Can't wait to meet everyone here.

Ok, so I introduce myself now.:)

I'm known as Impossible Uncorrect from the HLP Board and I give my best to speak in Englisch. I think I'm understandable but I'm german, so I surely got some grammar or word mistakes. Please try to understand me as good as you can.:o

Well, I get to Freespace very late (2007) when I get a german Gamemagazine. It was there avaiable so I get it and play it. It was like 5 hours playing and I was...excited. After playing it, I watched on YouTube some videos about the game and saw the SCP Graphics. I was wondering "How get they got their game look so good?" After a month I found it out. The SCP. Now, I'm playing most of the campaigns which are there, I checked some of the older ones (like "Enemies United" or "The Centaur Project") and then switched to the Procyon Insurgency, Silent Threat Reborn and the stuff you know all about.:D It was just great! I also use FRED2 very often.

Personally I'm learning a bunch of speech's like Englisch, Spanisch, French (Those three I have to learn in school) and also Italian (This one is actually more private and free) and I know some phrases in Latin. I play also a bunch of games, like Rome Total war, Civilisation III and IV Dawn of war and hope to play X3 Reunion. (I would love a FS Mod for that game!)
I like to write storys and read other ones, I'm very interested in History and Space or Lyrics as well. In real life I don't talk very much accept I'm feeling very very good or I'm feeling bad. (Yesterday my finger stucked between the lift door and the board.)

I'm sure you'll gave me help with my Englisch, so I would be glad if I could help you with your german, if you learn it. (One hand washes the other one, right:))

As far as I can, I'm trying to make some of my own ships. But  seriously...how hard is that?! I really honour your work! (I hope I'll be so good at some day.)

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me!

:cool1:

:cool1:

your game interests sound suspiciously similar to mine... :D

I R lurking no0b. I'm Logan, I'm new here. I'm the creepy no0b that lurks around, sometimes I'm just here, watching you from a window, staring at you... Right now I'm introducing myself, hopefully in an annoying fashion. I like punk, thrash, and rock music. A few of the bands I like are Green Day, Anti-Flag, Bad Religion, The Clash, Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies, Metallica, The Who, Black Flag, Sum 41, NOFX, Elvis Costello, Nirvana, Link 80, United Defiance, The Razorbax, The Offspring, and many others. I play guitar (I've got a Gibson Les Paul Studio Wine Red) and I sing. I write my own music. You can all call me stupid noob, obnoxious, random stranger, or anything you feel like calling me.

Heyy there,

i'm novachen, female, twenty-one years old and i came from Germany and live in Berlin for three years now (before i lived in trier, oldest city in germany, it is near the luxembourg border).
FreeSpace2 was my first videogame next to Need for Speed: High Stakes (this came with my first pc) back in 1999 and so it is my first videogame i've ever bought.
Maybe some older players remember me, i joined the official fs2 forums and the volition watch bulletin board back in 2000 with this nickname (it is freespace related ;)) aswell, also i played for the squadron of light and darkness ([sld]) from 2000 'till it's break-up in 2006 in FreeSpace2 (2000-2006) (since then only very rarely) and StarLancer (2000-2004) (never played it again after that) multiplayer.

I studied game-/graphic-design and game-producing (how i came to this idea is a different story *g*) for three years from 2006 until one month ago. For two weeks now, i work as a game-designer for a german game-developer (they didn't create any space-sim, yet) and my dream (possible in a distant future, like 10 years, i think) is to lead a game-project for an own action space-simulation (began to create a concept for the game four years ago) like freespace :)

I have FreeSpace2 in five different versions (i'm addicted, huh? *gg*). Next to the German and US Retail Versions from 1999 (i bought the US Version later on eBay) i also have both language versions of the dimension pack next to an european multilanguage rerelease low-cost version with three selectable languages (english, german and french) on dvd.
But i have never bought or played the original FreeSpace: The Great War. I played it the first time with FSPort and i don't like it so much as the second part.

I play FreeSpace2 mostly on Insane difficulty (it is the leftover from the multiplayer matches) with my Saitek X52 HOTAS. But i still have a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 if i wish to play FS2 with FF :)

In the FreeSpace Community i create some textures and skins for ships and mods (don't remember the names *sigh*) and voice-acted some lines in campaigns back in the day and i supported the german translations for aeos affair, derelict and homesick (if i remember correct) a few years ago, too.
Also i wrote some fan-fictions about freespace a few years ago which were translated from my english squad-mates in english aswell, but i have no clue where they are... :( i posted and upload them on few freespace pages and it seems that i've lost them also after i delete some old folders a few months back.

In july 2001 i meet some other freespace pilots from the whole world on the "GTVA FreeSpace Convention" in paris (oh, i was only thirteen and it was very difficult to convince my parents and in the end we were only like 20 people, but i will never forget this :)),  i don't know if some of you where there, too.. if that so, i'm glad to see you again :)

After the VWBB and the PXO Forums went down, i only read the forums from sectorgame, game-warden, hard-light productions and a few (now offline) pages, but never registered, because i had nothing to say. :)

i think that was everything i want to say this time :)

See ya in space :)

It was not a "Convention" in a classical style. it was more a meeting for freespace players over a complete weekend in a beautiful city. sure, there were a few with freespace2 preinstalled pcs at our location for a network match. but mostly was talking and spend time together :)

And there are photos :) But i don't know if there are still uploaded somewhere. but i have them on an old cd :)

Also, I'm pretty interested on your Inferno-based work. How about it? :)

It wasn't a campaign (i can't create missions with fred :( or better say, i never tried it after 2001 again, but there are too many good missions out there, so i don't need to learn it *g*), only a fan-fiction story that based on Inferno Release 1 (Ships, Stations, Weapons etcetera)

I know, yes, "Seemingly fitting". But hey, I too would like to board a GTI ship and find Shivans in there. It's a really thread-specific and relevant post; bots aren't usually good at that.

Also, I have two links in my signature. Does that make me a bot?

Title: Introduce Yourself (Newcomers)
Post by: Lupucillo on December 09, 2010, 04:47:53 AM
Hello everyone. Lupucillo is the name.

I've been a Star Fox fan since 1993. Played every drop out of Star Fox, Star Fox 2, Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Adventures. I own those 4 and they are the jewels of my game collection.

Was reluctant when Namco took over for Assault, but played it anyway. It was okay, but I was disappointed at the story. Seriously, I've found better ideas in Internet fan fiction written by 13 year old fanboys.
As soon as I read news about the last game on DS, I was disgusted. So I've decided to boycott the next games until something better shows up.
Shadows of Lylat looks to be the game I was waiting for and never got. I hope it comes out soon. If I can help in any way, I definitely will.

My favourite games in order are: Star Fox Adventures, Star Fox, Star Fox 2 and Star Fox 64. The SF-1 (Fox's Arwing) looked its best in Adventures, kind of battered and not all pristine, it looked like a real fighter that had been through several battles.

My ideal game would be one that would take place right after Adventures, with the newly reunited team and the addition of Krystal, with their outfits from the Rare title and Arwings in slight disrepair. If I ever become talented at programming, and I mean really talented, I will attempt to make such a game.

Well, not much else to say. I love Star Fox, it represents a huge part of my childhood and adolescence and I can't want to play SoL.

Who introduced you to definitely this website? You pointed out something about spacebattles inside your other publish, could I've got a link?

Hi, I am AG, almost an expert lurker, getting lurked more forums than I'm able to remember. My interests are spaceflight, computer systems, and fighting techinques in no particular order. I'm a fledgling programmer, with several private projects presently in certain kind of progress.

I am a new comer to the FS2 community, so please, be gentle on me.

I don't know anything about modding.  But I think it's neat-o.

I know next to nothing about computers.  But I keep buying them.

It's a miracle that I seem to have successfully installed fs2open.

I just can't tell if I did it right, cuz no one seems to be out there.

Help me and I'll let you shoot at me!

luv and nuzzling,

dblades1

Ok I may sound like I'm just sucking up to you, but I love the pieces you made, especially that arrangement for Cornaria. It almost brought a tear to my eye. It's nostalgic to me because I grew up playing starfox, and I loved it. I still do, but I used to to. :P  Anyway, I loved it, and I look forward to hearing another one of your fabulous pieces.

Why hello, Mario!

:welcome to

If you'd like to help out, there's a "Join Us" thread on the SoL board you can post on. And if you'd like to show off and get a little help with modeling, go ahead over to hard-light.net and post in the modding board (if you haven't already).
DaBrain is away for a bit with life and stuff, so it might be a bit before he comes around. Another newcomer, mando, is doing that as well, so you might also benefit.

To work in Canada, you may need to have your academic and/or professional credentials assessed to do certain jobs. This is essential in all regulated professions. While you are in your home country you can research your profession in Canada and start your credentials assessment process. If you have arrived in Canada, it is important to get started on these tasks quickly.

If you are considering moving to Canada or you have recently arrived in Canada, the Planning to work in Canada? workbook will help you gather information about living and working in Canada.

The following list can help you get your credentials recognized and started on your job search in Canada.
1. Determine if your Profession is Regulated

The resources on the Foreign Credentials Referral Office (FCRO) web site and the Working in Canada tool help you determine if your profession is regulated or non-regulated in the province/territory in which you would like to work.

If your profession is regulated, the Working in Canada tool will indicate the appropriate provincial/territorial regulatory body. You need to contact this organization to determine what steps to take to start working in your profession. Carefully review the information about certification on the regulatory organization’s Web site.

Some professions that are not regulated by law have professional organizations that may provide certification courses. Membership in these organizations might provide you with good networking opportunities which could help you find work in your profession. The Working in Canada tool can help you determine if there are any professional associations in your field.
2. Have your Credentials Assessed

Contact the appropriate regulatory body and provide it with the necessary documents to have your credentials assessed. The documents and process are determined by the specific regulatory body and can vary greatly depending on the province/territory and profession.

If your profession is non-regulated, it is still a good idea to have your credentials assessed and recognized because it will help employers better understand your qualifications.

The FCRO Web site also provides additional information on how to get your credentials recognized.
3. Organize your Documents

The regulatory body for your profession will need specific documents to support the recognition of your credentials. Generally, you will require at least a copy of your degree/diploma and transcripts, translated into either English or French. The regulatory body will specify any other necessary documents and will be able to provide you with additional information, including specifications about translation standards.

The Foreign Credentials Referral Office provides Occupational Fact Sheets that will help you to understand the general requirements you must meet to work in some professions/sectors and understand the steps that you can take while you are still in your home country.

To work in Canada, you will need a Social Insurance Number. You can apply for a Social Insurance Number, at your local Service Canada Centre or by mail after you arrive in Canada. You must provide a primary document that proves your identity and status in Canada. If your name on your primary document is different from the name you are currently using, you must also provide a supporting document. These documents must be originals and written in English or French.
4. Begin the Job Search

For your job search, you will need a résumé or curriculum vitæ translated into English or French and formatted in a style acceptable to Canadian employers. When you arrive in Canada, visit your nearest Settlement Organization or Employment Resource Centre for help with your résumé and job search activities.

If you have letters of reference from previous employers, you should have them translated into English or French.

Various job search tools are available to help you find a job in Canada, create a résumé, choose a career and assess your skills. You also can learn about finding jobs in Canada by visiting the Foreign Credentials Referral Office Web site.
5. Apply for Other Employment Programs and Services

You may be eligible for other programs and services. Visit the Benefits Finder on the Service Canada Training and Careers Web site for a list of federal and provincial or territorial government benefits for which you may be eligible.

Why are newcomers judged negatively if they do not go up to the existing wrestlers and introduce themselves? As an introvert myself, there are many reasons that I might not walk up to someone I'm meeting for the first time and say hello - that have nothing to do with me being conceited. On the contrary, I would feel that an Undertaker or Triple H has a huge number of things on their plate and the last thing they want is for some nobody to interrupt whatever they're doing. In addition, people from different cultures have different ways of bonding.

I know the locker room is supposedly one big family but I still don't get why 'family' would take it so personally.

New to the forum as an active member, but been reading it for almost a year. I actually got out of the EDM scene around the time dubstep was making it's entrance into America...started producing hip-hop, and though I always have been and am still a fan, it took me ten years to realize it was not at all what I wanted to do. :u: I originally got into production to make breaks and dnb, but once I was out of the element, hip-hop seemed natural...now I plan to go electronic (no specific genre, except I will not be making trance or happy hardcore because I'm deathly allergic to it) and once I have a decent environment for recording I will incorporate more organic sounds...The worst part of producing hip-hop was having to fuck with rappers...because the truly talented ones are few and FAAAAR between and everyone wants a beat for free. I had to quit telling people I had recording equipment because they or someone they knew was about to be "the new hot shit", if only they had a place to record...Apparently meeting someone for half an hour and puffing some dank with them makes you "friends" and not just acquaintances...sorry for the rant...long story short...dubstep is the shit because it has all the electronic sounds I crave, with grimy hip-hop beats I can nod my head to...glad to be part of the community...

Unfortunately, right now we're reeling from the main project here, Shadows of Lylat, going t**s-up. So if you like what you've seen here, check out jc4jc's project Stargate SG-1: Earth's Defence (http://www.game-warden.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=34), and head to the sister site, http://hard-light.net, for piles and piles of Freespace2 modding and tons of campaigns and conversion mods.

Welcome Hexa!

Unfortunately, SoL has been canceled, and the assets released. What I would suggest, is to join hard-light.net, and get into all the great mods over there. Check out Wings of Dawn and Dimensional Eclipse.

As well, you could learn to mod yourself and build a StarFox mod using the already finished assets.
